Grrr. So I'm taping the game while we play D&D. With about an hour left (and after the game), one of the players, whose PC is out of action, and who came late and didn't know I was taping the game, asks to use my computer for a sec. Okay, I sez. Hey, Canada won 5-2 he says a little while later.

Almost tore his frickin' head off, I did.

Hoorah for Canada, though! Tops in men's and women's hockey. Long time coming.

Wow, the streets of Toronto was booming with such life that it was a sight for sore eyes... Never mind the noise... I think the last time it was this loud was back when the Jays won the Majorleague games for the second time.

The Hockey fan in me rejoiced...

While the US citizen in me wiped away a bitter tear. Just so darn short. But hey, silver isn't THAT bad. (I'm sure the Russians would have liked THEIR shot, even if they didn't pull out like I feared) But still, it was by ANYONE that knows the game, one of those moments that will be remembered for a while. I know I didn't sleep or eat or do anything besides watch hockey (might have been different IF my gaming group were actually together). Still props to Sakic. He DEFINATELY deserved to be MVP this game out. Course I'm also a Flyer fan so I win all around (silver AND gold! ) I just hope the Flyers can find out just what REAL chemistry they might have, especially since I think Johnny gained some confidence in his play, I know JR did too. Gagne though...man he's just a house of fire, especially teaming with Sakic AND Ignila(sp).

So congrats you Canadians. My hats off to you. What a game. HELL what a TOURNEY! This almost makes the playoffs look bad. But it certainly was a standard for Hockey, for Canadian, the US, and the NHL in general.

what a great game. Canada played a wonderful game, and deserved every goal they got.

Man that one Gumby move Richter made was incredible.

I was glad to have the opportunity to have seen it and glad Canada was able to bring gold back home in hockey.

I thought maybe the tide would really turn after the US killed that 5-on-3 power play in the 2nd period...but I guess it just wasn't to be...oh well

Yup, great game all around. Way to go Canada. And of course, one of the best players in the game went home with the MVP. Man, am I glad the Avs kept Sakic.

Ugh, I think Richter was asleep for the 3rd period. Modano was getting smoked out on the ice and Brodeur was in top form. While I would have liked to have seen ole team USA win the gold, I'm glad it wasn't Russia...or (Pelor help us) Belarus!

Gretzkey came out and said that he planned the tirade to try and take some heat off the squad. I'm not sure if the US media picked up on it but after the Sweden and German games the media (and faithless fans ) just crucified the team, it was pretty brutal and Gretz needed to take the pressure off.

How bout the looney at center ice, that was pretty cool!
