Hmm, surprised no one else has chimed in about this show. Man, I love Carnivale. I'm a sucker for HBO shows for the most part, but few have captivated me like this bizarre tale of good and evil. So anyway, about last Sunday's show.
AARRGH! I know that the overall direction of the show is helmed by David Knauf, but as with the nature of shows, they farm out episodes to be written and directed by different crews. I want to smack whoever was responsible for Sunday's episode, "Damascus, NE". Everything was disjointed and forced. The dialogue lacked so much of the subtle realism I usually expect from the show. It seemed so poorly executed, I wondered if I had let my blood sugar drop too much and was hallucinating.
What makes it worse is that it was such a pivotal episode! I can handle a bad show out of the bunch, but did it have to be the one where...
In no way will the show lose me as a viewer. I just can't believe they allowed one of the most important episodes of the show to be handled so poorly.
/end rant

Ben finally finds Scudder and kills Management? I wanted to tear my hair out.
