Never saw ReBoot, but a quick Google googling shows me this picture:OK, so you didn't like that one. Did you like ReBoot (the cartoon)? Same studio.

Is that what you were referring to? If it is, it looks terrible. I'm not interested in seeing it.
I don't analyze industry jobs: I look at the quality of the result.
Are you serious? Lucas is a freaking billionaire because he put out what he wanted. Regardless of your thoughts on the various re-releases and all that, people spent money on what he put out.The primary impediment to quality in most movies is Writing. Sometimes it's basic concept. But more often writing.
If anything, I'd like to expand hollywood's staff to include a new category at each studio: The "NO" men. they have enough "Yes Men" kissing posterior. The No men are charged with saying "NO" to stupid ideas, or bad concepts, and are answerable only to the head of studio. George Lucas was in desperate need of a NO person.
Here is the thing - Star Bores was garbage. The original release? Lame as all hell. Hans shoots first? Who cares? I wish Hans had gotten killed. That is one of the weakest roles Harrison Ford has had the misfortune of playing.
Still, the movie was apparently like by enough people that even now you get to watch as fans nerd-rage themselves into a froth when someone says something bad about the movies, or there is a new version that gets released and Lucas makes a trivial change.
Those are all movies that were enjoyed by many people. Enough that they made the studios a crapton of money. I doubt those movies would have made as much money as they did if they were as terrible as you think they are.Bad Boys, Armageddon, The Rock, Transformers 1, 2, 3,
Pearl Harbor was a movie about a love triangle that was interrupted by a war. While I agree with you that it was a terrible movie, there are many girls that loved that garbage. They thought it was amazing. So, while we are entitled to out opinion that the movie was bad, it's just that - an opinion.Pearl Harbor, (didn't see Bad Boys 2 or The Island).
Explained in the immediately following sentence.
Pirates of the Caribean: Curse of the Black Pearl.
Crimson Tide wasn't bad (for a retelling of the Caine Mutiny), and there was another movie he was involved with that wasn't horrible, but the title escapes me. The Original CSI show (Las Vegas) was a good show (until about season 9 or so)
A good movie is one which entertains, usually character or story-driven.Pretty sure all the movies Michael Bay made that you said were bad had all those elements. That you didn't like how those elements were expressed in the movies does not mean it wasn't there. Hell, porn has all those elements.
I'm pretty sure Michael Bay is the embodiment of Aristotle's spectacle. He may not be as strong in the other areas, but spectacle, they guy has it in spades. As with all theater, referring to Aristotle's Principles is a good framework.
