Caster level Queary

I've been mulling over a question for awhile now.

If a 9th lvl Warmage was to take a wizard class upon achiving 10th level, how does that effect the caster level in regards to casting the wizard spells?

The way I read it is that if the character was to cast Magic Missle from his wizard slot he/she/it would only sput out one piddley missle. Whereas if the same character was to cast MM from the Warmage slot it would be the normal 5 missles.

Thought I'd ask to get some clarification.

That's correct. The character is a Warmage 9/Wizard 1. So he casts his Warmage spell at Caster Level 9, and his Wizard spells at Caster Level 1. It might be the same spell mechanically, but you probably have to think of it as two different spells - the Wizards learns arcane spellcasting and rituals from his spellbook, while Warmage spellcasting is very different.

Cool, that's what I thought.

:\ Here's the kicker though. It is explained that the Warmage aquires his spells in a similar manner as a Sorcerer, so the spells are sorcerer-like in nature and mechanics, just a limited selection.

What kind of ruleing would be if the Warmage took Sorcerer instead of Wizard?

AFIK only prestige classes grant caster levels that stack with previous caster classes. They will also specify how they stack as well.
