OOC: I want a really high roll this round, so lets go ahead and spend the AP to make the result fairly ridiculous - a 28. However, I'm running low on AP, so depending on the result I may not spend the AP to negate the fatigue from Action Surge. Seems sensible that wrestling with an evil octopus thing would tucker you out...

Round 3, T-dawg's opposed grapple check

T-dawg yanked hard on Esmeralda. She came entirely out of the thrall's grasp, and landed with a bloody thwack half slumped against T-dawg and Feral, and half on the floor. Slimy ooze, blood, and gore covered her from neck to toe. She was no longer conscious; her eyes were closed and her body was dead weight in T-dawg's arms.

There wasn't exactly a hole or a precise opening in the thrall where Esmeralda had partially subsumed, but a portion of what looked like the creature's cilia-covered digestive organ was exposed. Purple-blue viscera glistened in the overhead fluorescent lighting, and the cilia waved en masse, trying to feel their way to feed.

OOC: For one round, until the end of the creature's turn on Round 4, both the maw and the stomach can be targeted for a called shot. I double-checked escaping a grapple, and note that it's a full-round action that does not incur an AoO, so my post for Round 3 stands. It was the AoO tidbit that I needed to check on when I got home.

End of Round 3. Start of Round. Please post at will. Cyril can make it back to the bathroom either this round or Round 5--your call, Forged Fury, depending on how much scrabbling you want him to do in the kitchen while he hunts for the knife.

Gasping for breath after the exertion of pulling Esmerelda out of the... thing... T-dawg nods grimly to Feral and interposes himself between it and the others. He holds onto it for dear life, happy to take a few rounds of beating to keep the others safe.

OOC: Ok, I'm not going to spend that AP to negate the fatigue after all, so -2 Str and Dex for 2 rounds. Here's my grapple check to maintain the grapple/damage the opponent, which will be at a lowly +5 (+3 BAB, +1 Str - after fatigue penalty, +1 for Brawl):
Grapple: [roll0]
Damage (if successful): [roll1] (non-lethal, if this thing can even take non-lethal...)

Round 4, pausing mid-round

Initiative:
Otter 26
Cyril 25
Thrall 17
J.R. 14
T-dawg 12
Feral 5

Otter stood there a beat, trying to decide her next best move. Cyril rummaged in the kitchen. Where the hell was that damn knife?! He tore through drawers, upended pots, and looked in all manner of cabinets, stewing dishes and glassware in his wake.

Feral grabbed hold of Esmeralda and forcibly drug her out of the bathroom. As covered as she was in gore, it was no easy feat to get a firm enough hold of the girl to lug her out, but he managed it...though she left a trail of slime on the floor. Free of Esmeralda, the thrall started to frenzy and broke free of T-dawg's hold. [sblock=T-dawg]The thrall got a 30 on its opposed grapple roll to escape the grapple. I think, given T-dawg's fatigued state and the lack of help from Feral and Action Points, he is numerically unable to best a 30. If I'm wrong, please let me know and I'll amend. I rolled another opposed check re: T-dawg's attempt to inflict damage, but I think that roll is no longer needed. I'm linking to it here, just in case we do end up needing it: http://www.coyotecode.net/roll/lookup.php?rollid=97506[/sblock] T-dawg attempted to squeeze the thrall to damage it, but he was fatigued; still, he soldiered on. The thrall might have escaped, but not for long. T-dawg wrapped big meaty lanky arms around two of the thrall's largest tentacles, and re-grappled the fell creature.

GM: Thrall -4/___

OOC: In his current state, T-dawg could conceivably just hit a 30 with a good roll and an action point... let's see (AP will only be used if the initial roll is high enough that he could conceivably succeed):
Grapple: [roll0]
AP: [roll]1d6][/roll]
Assuming that fails, we'll slightly restate his action to be attempting to grab hold of the thing again - in which case use the previous roll... and what the hell, I'll definitely add an AP to that one:
AP: [roll1]
I'll do an IC post to summarise once I see the results...

OOC: Last post from me this morning before I get back to work. I'll retcon my post #808 for T-dawg's re-actions. Actions for Otter and J.R. will go below in a separate post.
