D&D 5E CB's Stonefast IC -- COMPLETE

Edit: in light of map, This will change and so sblocked.

[sblock=see below]"Otiluke's Freezing Sphere!" thinks Father Spec, surprised at the immense power this caster wields. His lips move, but they still make no sound that he hears. Uncertain what happened to the Elf, he fires at one of the kobolds with his crossbow [[crossbow: [roll0]; damage [roll1] if successful.]], and continues down the corridor in search of the spell caster, looking down the corridor it appeared the elf had run along [[passive percept. 20]] but continuing past so as not to be exposed to any attack that might come from the retreating figure.[/sblock]

OOC: If there is any way, [MENTION=95059]Forged Fury[/MENTION], you are able to update the map today, that would be lovely. I think people could really benefit from seeing the layout and where they are. As you know, I detest mapping for pbp games, but if you're unable to do one today, let me know and I'll do one. Movement and timing of said movement is what took a huge chunk of time to work out last night. Hit me up in the OOC with any questions.

OOC: Regarding this part of that wonderful summarization post: "Guran steadfastly refused to move forward," -- yeah, I had intended him to end up back where he started, so that has the same effect as his not moving at all. I'm not disputing the narration: it comes to the same thing. The way I put it, he moved 10 feet to the dogleg, decided he couldn't get through, and moved 10 feet back to the door; that would be 20 of his 25 feet of movement, leaving him insufficient movement to get anywhere else.

Round 3: Guran follows Colden and Roscoe if he can, attacking any enemy he can target by throwing his handaxe. (If this puts Guran lower in the Initiative order, that's fine. He's not going to try to squeeze past both of them, and he can't squeeze past just one because they are adjacent to each other. Also, since Spec goes first, Spec might squeeze past Guran before Guran can move, leaving Guran fourth from the front!)

OOC: Edit to add: Wherever I said "squeeze" above, it should say "move through difficult terrain" instead. I just looked at the PHB for that.

"Otiluke's Freezing Sphere!" thinks Father Spec, surprised at the immense power this caster wields [and not realizing how terribly he has misidentified the spell]. His lips move, but they still make no sound that he hears.

In this cramped space, Father Spec feels there is nothing he can do, no target for him, and no way to alert the others of the need to move forward. His cheeks flush, as he reaches for a handkerchief to wipe his nose. in the flickering light, his head spins round, looking for an opportunity, and his eyes alight upon the apparent opening a few feet away to his right -- perhaps there is something there he can use? [passive perception 20]

He is ready to retreat if it appears the battle turns.

Colden grips his warhammer :o and striding up to the closest kobold he smashes at it with his hammer. As he does he draws on his reserves to shrug off his weariness. [roll0]

[sblock=Riposte] if the Kobolds miss him with a melee action he will use his reaction to attack.

[roll1]
[roll2]

edit: Colden HP= 25

[/sblock]

Fulgrim chafed a bit under his self-appointed role of guarding the rear. He hoped Colden was doing okay. The dwarf kept his eyes focused on the passageway behind him, alert for any approaching enemies.

OOC: Nothing really to do, so Fulgrim will watch the party's back. He'll draw his warhammer and wield it in two hands since his spells are currently useless. He'll ready to attack anything that comes at him with his melee weapon.

Round 3

[MENTION=24609]Strahd_Von_Zarovich[/MENTION], you're up. Thanks!

Initiative:
Spec 19
Guran 18
Colden 18
Kobolds 16
Other creatures 16
Fulgrim 13
Elf 8
Roscoe 6

"Otiluke's Freezing Sphere!" thought Father Spec, surprised at the immense power this caster wielded, but not realizing how terribly he misidentified the spell used on Colden. Spec's lips moved, but they still made no sound that he heard. In this cramped space, Father Spec felt there was nothing he could do, no target for him, and no way to alert the others of the need to move forward. His cheeks flushed, and he reached for a handkerchief to wipe his nose. In the flickering light, his head spun round, looking for an opportunity, and his eyes lit upon the opening several feet to his right. The jumble of furniture occupying the open doorway consisted of broken bits of chairs, a table, an armoir, most of a featherbed, several broken barrels that looked heavy, and stray bits of steel and iron bands that had the look of having come from one of the many doors in this place. The broken chair legs and the steel and iron bands might make impromptu weapons, the featherbed might provide cover or alternately might be torn apart and its feathers scattered to obscure line of sight. The problem Spec detected, however, was that the jumbled furniture was tipsy. Some of the pieces looked heavy, too. If it all came tumbling down someone might be badly injured. As Spec stood and pondered, he caught sight of a small brass tube lying on an intact table in the room. It was hard to see the table, though; he could make out only a glimpse of it through gaps in the jumbled furniture.

Guran followed after Colden and Roscoe. There wasn't yet an enemy to attack with his handaxe, but he kept it at the ready and continued to move forward with Spec at his back.

Colden gripped his warhammer and strode up to the closest kobold (Kobold 1) to smash it with his hammer, instantly felling the reptilian creature. As he did, he drew on his reserves to shrug off his weariness. Colden stepped forward again, closing the distance between himself and the remaining two kobolds until he towered directly over them. Close at hand, the sound of a door slamming closed could be heard.[sblock=Colden]Hey, did you want to use the critical you rolled but were unable to use in Round 2? I offered to let you keep it. It may be moot, though, since Colden did plenty of damage with your current roll; either attack roll will easily drop the kobold.[/sblock]

Kobold 2 squeaked and fired a bolt at Colden, but it missed due its disadvantage. Kobold 3 took a five foot step backward partially around the corner of the hallway, then fired. It, too, missed. Colden reacted like a flash and swung hard at Kobold 2, hitting it for 9 points of damage, and dropping it. Kobold 3 slunk away unharmed and was soon out of Colden's sight. Its retreat left the hallway empty of all kobolds, except for the smushed remains of two unfortunates.

Fulgrim chafed a bit under his self-appointed role of guarding the rear. He hoped Colden was doing okay. The dwarf kept his eyes focused on the passageway behind him, alert for any approaching enemies. Although he couldn't hear, his eyes were keen as ever and the way behind was clear.

OOC: When I hear from Strahd, I'll edit in Roscoe's action. For now, however, I will hop over to the OOC to discuss with Forged Fury where everyone currently is on the map. Long story short, there's a good bit more maneuvering room now. Fulgrim did not move and remains in the same spot, then there is a five foot gap, then Spec, then Guran (who is directly in front of the open doorway), then Roscoe. The dogleg is empty. The first square to the east of the dogleg is empty. Colden occupies the next square (in the hallway), and is standing over top the smushed remains of a dead or dying kobold. The easternmost square of the hallway has only the smushed remains of another dead or dying kobold and could also be occupied by a character. The newest hallway is out of sight for the moment, except for the first square which Colden can see is empty.

GM:
Colden 25/32
Elf Out of sight, FULL UP
Kobold 1 Dropped
Kobold 2 Dropped
Kobold 3 FULL UP
Kobold 4 Out of sight, FULL UP
Other creatures Out of sight, FULL UP

Colden presses his attack on the Kobolds clearing the space in from of him, he launches himself at the third creature swinging his bloodied hammer in a wide arc. As he does he glances at the others behind him and calls out.

"The sound works here!" he yells.

[sblock=attack]

Thanks for the offer of the crit CB, I feel the moment has passed and I'll just keep on rolling.

[roll0]
[roll1]

If he has any remaining movement he will pop over to the edge of the hallway and wait for his companions.

HP= 25
Superiority Dice = 3

Updated Map
Notes:
- Changed Roscoe to "r" to indicate he is small-sized.
- I went ahead and moved Roscoe his max distance without dashing. I imagine if he saw an enemy, he would either used a ranged attack or use Dash to close range with it, based on what Strahd has posted.
