CG vs. LE: Chaotic Good is Victorious!

Lhaym the Mighty appears at 85n15e. If he can ascertain Hype's position, he will cast an east-west Wall of Iron on the 105n line from 40e to 50e. No real idea how to calculate his caster level, so assumed minimum to cast the spell (11th). This should provide for 15' high wall that is 15' long.

Lhaym's (as is any dragon's) caster level is the same as his age category or sorcerer level (which Lhaym does not have), so his caster level is 6.

This is why dragons are kind of lame when it comes to using magic.

I was afraid someone would say that. CL6 for a 6th-level spell. Beauty.

Since he has nothing else to try, go with the move anyway - I presume it will only be a 10' high wall.

Hype pleased with the success last time will breath ordinary slow gas at Lhaym and move forward to 90n35e

(btw why Lhaym?
btbtw how big is he?)

Lhaym the huge dragon is named that way because he is another acid breather like Kal.

I assume 85N35E is Hyp's new position. 90N35E would put a corner of him into the water.

Round 346: A 10 foot high, 15 foot long iron wall appears between 105N40E and 105N50E.

Hyp breathes and Lhaym resists (natural 20 Fort save).

Hyp:[sblock]You can breathe again in round 349.[/sblock]

Lhaym starts round 347.

Actually this would apply to any Rust Dragon - I think that even with all the contenders in other books no dragon is as weak-kneed as this guy (I think average breath damage would be 30hp...that is an adult dragon, if you miss the save). The build is super-specific - if he's not fighting goons wearing metal armor, with metal weapons, then you could cut his CR by two. Rust Dragon's are the mirror image of Chaos Dragons - both suck, but one because it's over CR'd, the other because unlimited confusion gas just seems to ruin an encounter.

For the sake of the tourney at large I dismissed trying to rust out the VZ just to make use of his only abilities. :)

Lhayme will flap over to 105n40e and put another wall on the line between 50e & 55e, running from 105n to to the north wall. Then he will try to get a nap in his new den (should be box cutting off the nw 30x30 of the VZ if I've done it right).

I agree with Ugulu about the usefulness, or lack thereof, of rust dragons. I had a unique opportunity to know all about them because they were the only Lawful Neutral dragons with age categories in TBoAA. Also, the LN general was one, but I only have my own laziness to blame for that. :\ Despite their uselessness, there is one in the Hall of Fame. :)

Fwiw I run adamantine like adamantium and, like the comics, have ruled that adamantium does not rust. :)

Trouble is I think they call out all the special metals and say ole' rusty's abilities have full effect. So maybe the VZ should be made of Vibranium. ;)
