Cha-Based Paladin

altho I did debate Eldritch Balst just to have a ranged blast ;)
I would choose Eldritch Blast over Eyebite. They're both ranged attacks, but Eldritch Blast has range 20 (Eyebite has range 10) and Eldritch Blast does more damage (d10 vs. d6). The invisibility aspect of Eyebite doesn't seem in keeping with the mechanics of the Paladin.

Actually, it works rather nice when combined with Martyr's Blessing .You get to make the big bad try to attack a friend, take a -2, and 3+cha damage, and if they miss, horray, and if they hit, you get hit instead. They still take the damage. ;)

You just have to be creative with how you use your powers, and the situations you get into. It certainly isn't in line with the whole idea that Paladins are these courageous paragons of valor who fight everyone face-on, but the entire new system for Paladins is meant to break that mold. It's boring to just play the same dumb old lawful stupid. Now cheeky, unaligned stupid, that I can get into. :p

I would consider using the Star Pact at-will, Dire Radiance, as the Dilletante. You've got the high Con for it, and used with the Divine Challenge, can set up a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation. Plus, it picks up on the Paladin's use of the Radiance keyword. You'd have to buff your dex up a bit if you wanted to grab astral fire, but it's a possibility.

Interesting idea, but why should I use Dilettante for that instead of the feat?

heh, of course you could also put the pally challenge mark on them, eyebite and watch them hurt themselves not attacking you. Heck, you could Divine Challenge (minor action), Eyebite for the attack and stay invisible to him until your next turn. He knows he needs to attack you but can't see you. Keep eyebiting him and he takes damage from not attacking you each round. Sick and twisted ;)

The Paladin I designed is definitely more of a in the thick of it challenging people to their face type tho. Tide of Iron worked nicely ;)

Actually, I was more thinking of the fact that a standard five-man party with a DM following the guidelines in the DMG finds four magical items - total - for each level they go up.
