Chacters that hate other characters

Do you encourage characters to be mean, rude, arrogant, or condescending to each other.

Do I specifically encourage it? No. Unless that happens to be the nature of a character. Some people are just buttheads, and end up in a bad way. I don't encourage or discourage such behavior. If someone has a character who is screwing over another character, the party will ultimately deal with it, without my interference. In 15 years, I've had one player who took the death of his character at the hands of another PC personally, and he pitched a hissy afterwards. He eventually quit, which was alright with me, since I didn't care for him. Now I generally won't let someone roll up a character with the specific intention of screwing the party unless it fits into the story line somehow.
