D&D 5E Character concepts you've always wanted to play, but haven't

I'd like to play a paladin that doesn't die in the first couple of levels, but...

Honestly, I've played most of the "really wanna try this" characters, but more keep popping up in my head. The two newest ideas I want to try:

Wood Elf Battlemaster Archer: humorously most of the Battlemaster abilities can be used with ranged attacks, creating some fun combos. Goading, Meanacing, and Trip Attacks are great ways to mess with enemies at a distance. Haven't put any more thought into background or personality yet, as it's still just a rough draft.

Variant (winged) Tiefling Fiend Tome Warlock: by using my wings, I fly above the enemy and can rain down death from above. Considering Grasp of Hadar to pull enemies up 10 ft, forcing them to take 1d6 additional damage and drop prone. Considering using a heavy cloak to hide the wings, and possibly a mask to conceal my tiefling features, telling everyone that I've been horribly scarred by my ancestor's (my) bargain with the demon.

For me:
* pole arm warrior. Funny enough, a pole arm master is a potent build for 5e, yet very few minis actually have warriors with pole arms. I've been wanting to play one and see the synergy with other front line fighters in the party. Main reason? Don't play as a player that often, and the party hasn't really been comprised of PCs that would fit this type of build.

Never let missing a mini stop you!

Our whole group uses it to visualize builds and I bought a mini from them and love it. :)

Can’t justify paying $20-$40 for a single mini. If I’m gonna pay that, I’ll just buy a 3D printer

So many, it would break the post count.

But my recent obsession has been a simple farmer (Way of Tranquility Monk) who carries around seeds, enjoys brewing simple wine, and wields a hoe (Magic Initiate: Druidcraft, Shillelagh, Goodberry). Which I guess makes me the protagonist of Stardew Valley. :sneaky:

LOL I guess it depends on how long you use it and since it is completely custom, it is your character. :)

I've been using mine for months and will likely for another year or more. Ever afterwards, I'll have a nice keepsake of the game and the fun I had.

Now, if you change out often or play a lot of shorter-length campaigns, or if money is tight, I totally get it. Of course, even if you bought a 3D-printer, you would only have to pay $5 (IIRC) for the file to print your own I suppose.

My only problem is that I get a custom mini and then SQUIRREL!

Wait, what character was I going to play again?

A wild magic sorcerer who has no idea he is a sorcerer. Maybe he stumbled across an arcane focus somewhere, picked it up and Bam!

I think a multiclass works best - adventure for a couple levels and some random thing he picks up becomes his focus. I'm usually the DM, so when I get to play, its usually a one shot which doesn't really work for this character concept.

Re: custom minis - what I'd really like to find is probably impossible: someone who can make custom METAL (not plastic!) minis in 25-mil scale at a halfway-affordable cost.

You can get metal minis from hero forge, but affordable? That's a different story.
