Character Level Adjustment for a PseudoDragon?

Utrecht

First Post
All,

In a game that I am in one of the characters is playing a pseudodragon - The DM gave it to him as a Level Adjustment of 0.

I am thinking that it is much more - but have been unable to locate this info. So any ideas what it should actually be?

Thanks in Advance

ach! you could try the issue of dragon with all the ECL's ... and then drop it by a few.

I'd look it up ... but my *wolf jumps for joy* cable modem has been down all week and won't be looked at until friday *wolf jumps for more joy* ... at least school's is working *wolf jumps for even more joy ... really this time, summer session for my class is about 7 hours on M/W and 3.5 on T*

(sorry had to rant a little!)

whoa! my internet is online? ...

anyway according to Dragon 293 a pseudodragon is ECL ... is .... is ...

well okay, pseudo is not listed! (or I can't find it)

they have wrymling dragons at +8 ECL ... you could go from there ... bring it down to 4 or 5?

Considering the benefits of flight, see invisible, SR, poison use and small size... I would go for at least ECL5, probably more. I can't imagine what that DM was thinking when he said ECL +0!!!

(OK, limitations include no hands and no voice, so he won't be much of a spellcaster - but he could be a kick-bottom rogue with horrific sneak attacks)

Yeah, I looked at Dragon as well and came up blank as well....

Here is the ironic thing about it. The DM has allowed him to use Wizard and Cleric spells - stating that he can use the stubby arms for the somantic components....... Verbal I have no idea how they are getting around this one.........

But thanks guys, you were confirming what I was suspecting.

In Enemies & Allies, there's Wallach the psuedodragon. While I know that CR does not always directly lead to ECLs, a 10th level human fighter NPC is CR10 and a 12th level elf sorcerer is CR 12... and Wallach, the 12th level sorcerer psuedodragon is CR13.

Take as you will :)

Noting the smiley, I'd not read anything into that CR evaluation - it has been mentioned by the designers on numerous occasions that CR is a useless indicator of ECL - because abilities which are helpful to a one-off foe could be game-destroying if easily available to a PC who can use them in encounter after encounter after encounter. I think some of the pseudodragons abilities would fit into that category

Cheers
