Character Optimization - Two-Blade Fighting Style Ranger

JiggleFloyd

First Post
Greetings,

I've been playing this Ranger from Level 1 onwards. He's gone through some changes over the time, and although I think he's a pretty good straight Striker, I'm always open to new ideas. I'm open for any type of feedback.

Some points to note:

* I have a Wyvern for mount and prefer to be on it as much as possible for obvious reasons.

* I'm very interested in any way that will allow me to deal more damage in a reliable way. I rely on both weapon bursts and melee attacks.

I actually think this is the wrong thread to post this in.

If you want to be on your wyvern, why not be a bow ranger? You should at least invest in a magical throwing axe.

Instead of investing in two Magic Weapons +3 , there is a magic item that seperates into two identical weapons in the Adventurer's Vault called Paired Weapon. I'd also get Quickdraw. Rangers are a class that need their minor actions. It's also useful with Paired weapons. You can combine the weapon and quickdraw a potion , drink it and seperate them again.

Bow rangers are nice but I already have a bow based Hybrid Avenger_Seeker who has a Ranger MC. Plus one nice thing about a flying, hovering mount is that you can place yourself over your enemies and use a close burst attack and hit all enemies in 4X4 square. I aim to have about 1/3 of my attacks burst based.

I have Magic Weapon +3 b/c that's the choice I got from the adventures we played, this isn't a character that was made at Level 14. In general I plan to get a few Jagged Weapons +4/+5 as they allow me to crit on a 19-20 with all of my attacks, not just melee, plus they deal massive ongoing damage on a crit which can be buffed with the right items/feats.

Thanks for the Paired Weapon idea though, it could come in handy as it's like two Magic Weapons in one. Quickdraw is indeed nice as well and will get it if I pick up more items/powers that require minors. Right now I just have Hunter's Quarry and my Battle Fury Stance, but these don't need to be done every round.

Any ideas on PPs? I'm open to getting a different MC in order to get a different Paragon Path or maybe a feat that makes a lot of sense for Rangers.
