Charging Mount & Mount Feats

Hey all.

When a mounted rider charges a target, does the mount get its normal attacks in addition to the rider getting his?

I have decided to treat the increase in HD of a doing Paladin's Mount as it is done in the MM. Thus, at the second and last increase catagory the mount will get a Feat.

Any thoughts on what feats might be interesting and if they have prereqs that don't fit, how would you alter them for the moment or circumstance?

A charging mount may attack, provided you make your DC 10 Ride[Fight w/Warhorse] check.

Also, keep in mind that if your mount moves more than 5', you are limited to a partial melee attack.

Missile attacks are not penalized until your mount moves more than it's normal movement (then it's -4 for a double move---or full charge)

Just to clarify, that is with any movement, charge or no-charge, right?

So if the Paladin, with 3 poss. attacks is mtd and move his horse 6+ feet he only gets to make one attack...because he is preforming a move-equivalnet action at that time, right?

Yup.

Not quite. Your Paladin isn't performing a Move Action when his mount is moving, he just can't make a Full Melee attack because half of the round is spent on a moving mount.

Full melee attacks assume you move no more than 5' from your opponent during your turn. Since he's crossing the battlefield, he doesn't have the time to whack the baddie as often as he could standing still.

He can presumably perfom a Move Equivalent action in addition to his Melee attack if he wishes (it would just take place during the mount's movement).

And you still get your full attacks with Missile weapons.
