Chatroom for running 4e D&D?

S'mon

Legend
Hi all - I am looking for a text chat room where I can run a game of 4e D&D. I'm not looking for any mapping utilities, anything that requires downloads. I'd like something very simple: "Turn up at this URL at this time and play". Anyone know anywhere suitable? All my online live gaming has been in the Dragonsfoot chatrooms, but that's not suitable for 4e... :erm:

Have you considered IRC? That way you can also post things like pictures, extra stuff.

Personally, I can't wait for Google Wave. This platform would be perfect for play-by-chat.

Try maptool. It's freeware (or freesoftiware if you're into technicalities and new words).

It's a chat + dicebot + map program. It's dumb-simple and works at the basic level or for people who really get into it.

Here's a screenshot of my WFRP game:

I don't want anything where players have to download software or do anything more complex than click on a URL I provide them.

I can't speak for maptool, but I do know that Screenmonkey has a host program for the DM, and all the players need are their web browsers - no plug-ins, etc. that I can tell. It DOES have a map space included, but it's not absolutely essential to play. If all you want is chat, then any instant messaging client that all parties use (like AIM, for instance) would work. Failing that, something like Meebo, maybe?
