For those who are at the Star Trek convention on the West Coast, they got to see a historic event, and a lot of love shown for actor James (Jimmy) Doohan.

He was a talented actor with a memorable role. Its unfortunate that he has to go out this way .

James Doohan was the first Trek guest I'd ever met when I went to my first convention back in 1990. He was a great guy. Sadly, the last convention I saw him at about 3 years ago, he was totally a different person- he barely knew anyone was there and it looked like signing was a strain on him; like he was very tired.

To be frank, he should've retired from the con circuit back then. It was said then that that con was going to be his last. Alas, that wasn't the case.... He was at Dragoncon just before that (either that same year or the previous year) and had trouble getting around.

He will be missed as he was great with us fans. Even one time when a friend walked right past him and said they were looking for him.....

Leave it to Scotty. Giving it all she's got and pushing it as far as she can take it, righ up until the end. He will be missed.
