Chief O'Brien can kick your ***

That's Latin for "cool"
The Spike Network shows Star Trek: TNG twice a night on weeknights. So I've been catching up on a lot of Trek. I had always thought that Chief O'Brien's appearance on the last episode "All Good Things..." was a bit of pandering. But then, guess what! I just saw the pilot "Encounter at Farpoint" again and he's in there. According to the episode list ( http://stng.36el.com/st-tng/episodes.html ) he is credited as "Battle Bridge Conn" . But then again, Geordi took the conn for the first season as well.

Given his appearances in seven seasons of TNG and seven seasons of DS9 that puts him serving the Federation for 14 years, the longest character run in Trek history (Worf didn't show up on DS9 until season four).

Accoring to my back-of-the-envelope calculations, this makes Chief O'Brien 39,857th level assuming that there is a maximum exp limit per adventure.

PS yes, I need to get out more

1: I have to admit that I find that amazingly interesting, I had always thought that Worf was the longest;I guess I'm wrong ...and
2: you definetely need to get out more.

O'Brien was really my favorite character out of the entire Trek franchise. He had personality, even as a lowly background tech early in ST:TNG.

I just wish I could've seen more than two seasons of DS9. it only airs in reruns at 2 am here, and I have no VCR. :(

BG: On Spike Network, does it seem the quality of ST:TNG really sucks? I find it hard to watch, the quality of the shows (even the later episodes) really is way below what it was when it was on UPN...

Just what the heck is Spike Network doing to those beloved shows?

UPN? I thought TNG was a syndicated show from the start. In fact, I watched TNG on a local FOX station for a time.

Well, it is an old show, made for analogy TV. I don't think they made any attempt to restore it.

Then again, they're probably showing pirated versions. :p

As for [Senior] Chief [Petty Officer] Miles Edward O'Brien, I'm glad they put an enlisted as one of the main characters in one of the pinnacles of Star Trek TV series: Deep Space Nine.

Heretic,

Most TV shows are shot with el crappo film so the color is the first thing to go. Check out some old episodes of "Sienfeld" and you'll see the same thing. Between the flim aging and the pseudo-futuristic 80's interior decorating, TNG sadly isn't built to last.

Well, not counting the movies, what about Admiral Leonard H. McCoy?

ST begins 1966, TNG begins 1987, right?

21 years-ish? :D

And don't forget Ambassador Spock. Although I don't know if there was any time off between uniform service and diplomatic corps.
