Chingachgook's Weapon

If I remember the movie, this was primarily a one handed weapon, but could be wielded 2 hands. From the pictures (search gunstock club on google images) the axe blade is very narrow and pointed, almost pick like. I would give it 1d8 piercing or bludgeoning damage with 20/x3 critical and can be wielded either one or two handed. I would call it martial profiniency too; it may be unusual, but it is essentially a club and axe/pick in one, neither of which is an exotic weapon.

Nearly any weapon can be used to trip or disarm. That was one of the more common uses for a fighting hand axe, but the hand axe doesn't receive any additional bonuses for those maneuvers.

Game mechanic-wise, it would require some exceptionally specialized design to provide the bonus.

I disagree.

Whatever you settle on, don't forget that it can be thrown with lethal effectiveness. ;)

Great movie, and Chingachgook's weapon is one of my favorite aspects of it -- just thinking about it makes me want to watch it!
