D&D General Chris just said why I hate wizard/fighter dynamic

You have never had a reaction to something without magic being involved?

Alternatively: Advertising is Magic!

I hate how with magic practically anything is allowed because "it's magic."

But without magic people quibble about every little detail despite the fact that the world is the same - why can't martials have learned a few neat tricks that are not expressly "magic!"

Psionic? Psionics are just what some people do, right. Aragorn? Just a fighter with lots of lore and a Vulcan mind meld.

if you watch a TV show or movie (a heist, an action a comedy a thriller a horror) and the movie has a character do something amazing but they don't call it magic, why can't the game let us do something similar without magic... it is all fantasy.

does this open up the "MCU super hero movies" argument, a little. but like I said above Leverage and A team, all the humans in temranator, die hard, the non vampires in every vampire movie (non werewolf too), the people who do things and DON'T have a magic extra are just doing them... we suspend disbelief a lot

Which is why a lot can be done to correct the imbalance. The real issue is the direction you want to go:

You either decrease the power of casters to bring them down to the martial level, or elevate the martials to bring them up to the casters. Or, try to find a happy medium between the two extremes...

Personally, I am for bringing casters down, many others want to elevate martials.
I’m not even sure that you would need to bring down ALL the casters. For PHB warlocks and sorcerers, their limited spells known already restricts their overall power (if you also nerf Wish).

Niche protection.

And the wizard's niche is 'yes'.

I think that's partially it. But it's also that many gamers have attached the label "mundane" to martials (especially the fighter) and just can't get past them doing anything they can't immediately conceive of as "normal."

Even action movie physics seems a bridge too far for many people, when it comes to the fighter - not the wizard!

What's the line between Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Falcon on one side and a super soldier like Cap on the other?

Should Crouching Tiger be able to be done with just martials?
