D&D 5E Chris Perkins drops 2020 hint!

My strong bet is DL because Margaret and Tracy Hickmann.

Why? It is the least difficult to convert to 5E campaign world. You only need special rules on Dragonlances and Moon magic and there you go.

Plus, if done right, it can attract many players, especially new players. I mean, riding Dragons and using Dragonlances, plus an epic backstory, that surely can compete with infernal warmachines doesn't it?

In these flashy and shiny times concerning media, that would be a thing. You could even do a sophisticated movie with this stuff (If you would get the right way to convert the specialities back into the "Real world")

I mean everybody watched GoT, and DL has the potential to top it if you get the special effects right and do some flashy marketing, it would be costly, but doable.

I don’t think so. It has a proven record of not being a great setting for sales. The novels are great. But the setting was too tied to the novels. Although I would love to see it.

I would absolutely love a Dragonlance adventure/setting book. But I'd also love a new Ravenloft adventure - a bunch of my players have already played through Curse of Strahd, so I've been reluctant to run it for them.

Lord Soth of course, would be a wonderful villain (And heck, he could be in Ravenloft or Dragonlance!). Azalin, I'm inclined to pass on. As cool as Darkon is, we've already had a lich for the big bad.

I'm going to double down on Castle Amber. I get the sense a lot of folks here are not familiar with it, but back in it's day it was as popular as Ravenloft, and has some similar horror themes (I always thought it trended more towards Lovecraftian type horror), the same sort of demi-plane kidnapping setup, and similar highly detailed NPCs. The original had some details on Clark Ashton Smith's Averoigne province, and like Strahd I think they'd have a lot of room to expand that countryside. It's one of Tom Moldvay's unofficial "Pulp Fantasy Trilogy". It's ripe for a remake and expansion.

My gut reaction, other than wanting that to happen, is thinking that X2 might be on the list of Modules Goodman Games has to work with, rather than something WotC has plans for themselves.

Chris is such a tease.

Desert of Desolation would be great, as Pharoah is an amazing adventure. It's also a gateway into Al-Qadim, perhaps, or expanding the map of the Forgotten Realms.

That said, this tease gives me hope for Dragonlance. According to the Gamehole Con interview, the Eberron book is selling very well, so WotC must be looking at other classic settings. I imagine Dragonlance is at the top of the list. It's a good vehicle to introduce mass combat and other new rules. I imagine Guild Adepts and AL could provide some inspired adventure content.

Chris doesn't do Setting books primarily I think, I think he is more the AP guy.

I am thinking about other thing.

Ravenloft could be a true smashing-hit. Universal Pictures would love to work with a franchise like this, like a reboot of its classic gothic horror movies. Do you bet will we see any paranormal romance set in the demiplane of the dread?

Other option could be to use the Masque of the Red Death as a setting to produce its equivalent to the movie of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

* Other matter is about some players asking to can use firearms from d20 Past.

* Do you think will we see a reboot of the setting, with all matter about the gran conjunction? What about lord Sorth and Sithicus?

* I also imagine the setting bigger like a complete planet, not "small" as Europa. Why? Because I would like to add a lot of paranormal factions (vampire clans, werewolves lodges and those things) and the previous demiplane of dread was too small to be a Jurassic Park for the monster from the Hammer Films.

I'm not into Strahd, but man that was back when D&D wasn't afraid to make fun art for it covers.
