Chuck 2x01 - Chuck vs. The First Date

Brakkart

First Post
I'm surprised that no-one else has put up a thread about this, as to my mind anyway this is one of the best shows on TV right now. I thought season 2 got off to a great start with its usual mix of retail comedy (Cage Fights and Twinkie Eating Contests), espionage (The Cipher) and action (Go Sarah!). Chuck had my favourite line of the show though ("Do you find them imposing? It's okay, you can be honest, I was going for imposing!"). Roll on Monday.

Ohh while Sarah's new work outfit is nice and all, I'm gonna miss her in the Weinerlicious outfit!

Chuck is great fun, even if it doesn't make any sense.

I hope they don't keep the 'Chuck is going to get killed as soon as they get a new Intersect working' plot line running too long, though.

I think that might actually be a plot point. The argument -- no civilians with national secrets -- makes sense, but the timing is all wrong. Why kill Chuck before you have a bunch of new, trained agents running around with the same information in their heads (the agents that got blown up)? What if the process didn't work, or Chuck's brain was special in some way?

I think -- and I may be thinking about it WAY too hard -- that the red-headed lady is actually on Fulcrum's payroll and trying to eliminate all the data. She wanted Chuck dead. She ordered the timing. Moreover, when they fired up the new Intersect, she was noticeably absent. It's just a theory, but an interesting one.

Anyway, loving the new episodes of Chuck. It's one of the few shows on TV that I will actually watch these days. :) Even if it is pretty silly most of the time.

I really enjoyed it.

The whole "kill Chuck after new Intersect is ready to go" loomed over much of last season as well.

Silly - but the show doesn't take itself seriously. That's the difference between this and... *ahem*... certain other shows.

I decided to check this out after seeing a review praising it and calling it a more light-hearted Burn Notice. Never caught anything of Season 1 and unfortunately missed the first 20 minutes, but it was entertaining. I kind of didn't know what was going on, though. Is it imperative I watch the first season before getting too far into this one, or could i just figure the major plot points out within a few shows? I know all the episodes are free to watch online (or so said a commercial...), but I don't really have the time for that. At least not enough time to watch them all before the next episode or two airs.

Plot: Friend steals intersect and sends it to Chuck. Chuck looks at it and BAM has it in his head. Two people work to protect him. Things happen around the area and occasionally, he recognizes something which triggers the intersect and they go off saving the world. Once the new intersect is up and running, he's no longer needed.

For the most part, that's really all you need to know. :) HOWEVER, if they decide to bring back Chuck's friend Bryce, a little backstory could be useful, but I don't think watching the first season is required, but I would still recommend it. ;)

I would say the first season was good enough for it to be required watching. You don't HAVE to but I imagine there will be plenty of in-jokes and references that will make it worth your while. That and it was VERY entertaining. :)
