Tori looks around the window, to see if there is anything else unusual, perhaps any signs that the window was used as an entrance etc.

When Jeffery returns with his news he sighes. "Nothing like jumping to conclusions, huh? Guess we'd best go after Pyrelius," and he heads off out of the manor to join him.

Leyton seems unconcerned with Jeffery's outburst, preferring rather to continue his questions with Jeffey.

" While my companions deal with that sir, I missed you before...I have a question. On second inspection, I wonder, where did you get the cup your master drank from? Did your master fetch it himself, or did you supply it along with the tea? When you made the unusual second pot, did you fetch him a fresh cup? Or did he use one he already had?"

Lark follows Tori outside to see that the barbarian has not waited for them. Lark steps back inside and says to Jeffrey, "It seems our 'friend' did not wait. Could you tell me the directions, oh and about how far away is it?"

"He kept the cup I gave him earlier. It was from the kitchen where I cleaned it and washed it earlier," Jeffery says absentmindedly,"Are you not worried about what your friend will do to that merchant?"

To the others outside:
"I told him to wait for you but I can see he didn't I will tell you where he has gone," Jeffery gives you very detailed directions that even a small child could follow if it wanted to.

"Thank you for your help...worried? That one walks his own path...I'm sure he won't do anything too hasty however."

Leyton continues outside, travelling with the others to find Pyrelius.

On the way he tells the others, "The dead merchant's cup was poisoned after he had already drank cup of tea, but before he had his second cup. I suspect, seeing as a second glass of tea was unusual for him, he poisoned his cup himself, and sought to commit suicide. Or else his mind was controlled into doing such a thing. Perhaps he knew he had enemies coming for him, and he sought to end his own life rather than face their wrath. When they found him sleeping-dead from the poison-they killed him...not knowing he was already dead by his own hand."

"I'm not saying you're wrong," comments Lark,"but he would have to be quite desperate to take his life rather than running away. So gentlemen, shall we go speak to whatever is left of the Merchant Burl Odom? Although, perhaps one of us shoud stay behind to keep an eye on things at the house. Arain would you mind staying? I'm sure that they wouldn't object to the presence of a Priest of Johan.

"Well, desperate or under the influence of powerful magics. That said...we all saw what eventually happened to him, and he may have known how angry and willing to mutilate his body his enemies were."

Tori heads off after Pyrelius, following Jeffery's directions, hoping to reach the merchant before anything comes to head.

Hearing Leyton's ideas he replies "It could be that he poisoned himself. But there were footprints by the window, there was someone else around. Possibly that was whoever was using mind controlling magics or something like that."

"But if he did do this to himself, why would anyone take the trouble of giving him the beating that would cause all of those bruises? I'm still confused as to why someone would cut his throat afterwards - to get his blood seems the only feasible answer, but I'm not sure why you'd want it. Presumably the poison was still in his veins, but I don't know if that tells us anything useful or not."

"Whatever the case, I seems odd that the gardener and some merchant were in league over this. I can't see what they'd gain over it at the moment."

Arain ponders this plan for a second and then replies all too chiperly, "Yes! I will do it in the glorious name of Johan. I will further question these suspects so that Johan can have his answers. Like Johan's eyes, I will search this residence for any further clues!." With that Arain makes an about face and returns to the residence.

As each of you begins your persuit you wonder just what you will find left of the merchant when you arrive. You each ask yourself the essential question of "Who could have done this?" followed by "Why would they have done this?" You ask these as you move towards one of the house arrested suspects, Burl Odom.

Pyrelius:
You storm through the town, around corners, through narrow alleys, and over the town's many hills. With each step you convince yourself more that what you are doing is absolutely correct and that getting, by force or not, a confession out of the merchant it top priority. Jango agrees with you and pushes you forward.

[sblock=Lark]As you travel you keep getting stuck on the name Burl Odom, you keep thinking you know something about him, have heard about him somewhere. Then it hits you he was once a skilled thief, he retired after being caught stealing a set of family jewels. He was notorious for his sleeping powders and potions that he used on guards to slip by them. He retired here because of the large crowds that come in for the town's many festivals. You assume that he still steals but you have not heard anything more about him. Bardic Knowledge 12+9 (roll) = 21 vs DC 20 [/sblock]
