"No," she shakes her head, "I am afraid I don't have a horse, but I have something that might help you find them. So you will hear of my plight? Thank you, my friends."

*She pulls up a chair and sits down, legs folded gently as she looks at the five adventurers, smiling, with those big blue eyes.*

"You see, long ago, my forefather left a magical item, a shining object of light, in the desert, protected by powerful magic that obscured its location. He knew that some day, our family would need it, and now, well, my family has become inflicted by a terrible disaster. My husband is dead, and my daughter and I will surely perish along with him, slowly fading away, unless some brave heroes can recover my ancestor's item and save us. I have a magical nexus that will point you towards the murderer you seek as well as towards the magic that will save my life, and my daughter's. Please, will you help me?"

Eskon stands up and brushes some crumbs off his pants.

"If someone has a horse for me, I'm ready. If not, I can sell a few things and afford a horse. That will take a bit of time, however, so I'd prefer not to."

ooc:I expect Eskon, Findoram and Bran would get the three horses. Unless Findoram would prefer a pony - we could all pitch in to buy one, they are much less cost than a horse.

To the woman: I am sorry but I missed your name. Perhaps one of our companions on a horse could allow you to ride with him. Your aid could be valuable to us and apparently you need us as well.

"My name is Elaice, and I'm afraid that I may not be as useful as you might think...you see, I am fading away from a terrible Vanishing, a magical malady. I shall be able to communicate with you briefly so long as you hold my nexus, but otherwise, I need to rest to keep up my strength."

"I will echo little Bret's concern for speed, however, as based on what he is saying, your quarries may very well elude you, particularly since you will likely slow to camel speed once you reach the desert--bringing horses there is simply not as efficient. If your targets buy camels as well, then you will basically never catch up. Do you think it is possible for you to travel at the full horse's speed if you all had light horses, or is your armour simply too heavy?"

I can say that I would not have a problem travelling full speed although I can not speak for everyone.

"Miss Elaice, I don't think that three horses will be able to carry the load of five travelers, even if packed lightly, and run as they never ran before. We'd need five horses, and even then we'd have to leave a lot of stuff behind. Now I've been through some rough times before I returned to Orussus and do not have loads of cash in my pocket, if you know what I mean. Either we'll need two more horses, or we will not catch up, if I understand you correctly."
Irene studies the woman, not remembering hearing anything about a "Vanishing" disease. She wonders if her tale is true, but doesn't let her mind drift off for too long, as she continues her story. "Now with five horses we should be able to move at full speed. But if I understand correctly, the killer and his bunch of bandits are looking for the same object as you want us to find, and serves the same purpose? How certain are you that they'll return? Wouldn't it be easier to let them return and deal with the killer here then out there in the desert?"
Irene looks around the room and takes a peek outside. She frowns for a second, then continues: "Actually, it doesn't really matter what we do with the killer, or when, or how. I think our first priority would be to track them down, and to do that we need more horses, and we need less talk. So the question is, can we obtain more horses, and if yes, I'd say let's start the chase. We'll ride to the desert edge, restock there and find your whatever while dealing with the murderer. Am I missing anything?

"I am hoping that they are looking for something different, but in any case, they seem to be located in the same place."

"I think you've summed up the situation admirably," Elaice nods.

"Yes, thank you my lady!" Bret agrees, seeming a bit more chipper.

"I shall hand the nexus over to you for safekeeping," Elaice continues, "It will glow when you are headed in the direction of the cure, so you will always know which way to go. You can probably just go by road to the desert's edge before worrying about the exact direction, at least to start, since roads are faster and will save you time."

"I can move at full speed as well," he says.

OOC: Will catch up during my lunch hour.

Are you offering to purchase extra horses for us? I believe that is our current dilemma, funding for the additional horses.

"Alas, I do not have any money right now, though if you can help me heal myself and my daughter, I will be able to provide great treasures in thanks for such great heroes."

"Sir dwarf, could a light warhorse carry you?"
