Valan smiles It is a number, let me show you, set your card down here. Valan moves his 8 and Kermis 6 in middle of them. The first ten cards represent numbers. Ace means one Valan pulls out a copper for a teaching aide, saying One. very clearly and laying it on the card.
He does it for two, and three and so on. Making it clear each now amount was more. Valan pauses after then to gauge the Barbarians reaction.

Ooc: lol, the d13 was to represent a deck ace through king

Furrowing his eyebrows and trying to concentrate deeply, obviously a little confused, Kermis slowly points at the cards on the table and says "Ace ...one copper........sooo......kermis card six copper..... more better than ace? .....so kermis.....win?" he smiles briefly unsure of his victory.

ooc - great, the age old argument and difficulty...trying to explain why one is better than 6.
aww crap now i wont have anyone to play with. well sleep good.
but you should also add a d4 to the mix to represent the different suites. ie 1=spades, 2=hearts etc.

Joe twists a rag inside another of the dozens of mugs he has lined up here and there. Looking at the Elf's rather ridiculous visage, he replies, "You're free to stick around for a while, there's usually something working its way here at any particular moment." He pulls the rag from the mug and sets it on the counter, rubbing it in a circular motion as his other hand sets the mug down at the end of a line of identical others.

The Elf sighs and turns away from Joe as the door pounds open. His chin-in-palm position at the counter remains in place, though it now is left unsupported. Seeing the brute responsible for the commotion, the Elf releases a sound like that of a small girl, "Eeek!" before bounding back over the counter and half-hiding behind Joe.

He watches the proceedings as the man calling himself Valan seems to eventually cow the invader with a game of cards.

Aazwen releases Joe's tunic and steps toward the counter, resuming his chin-in-palm position as he watches. At the dimwitted barbarian's claim of winning over the ace, the Elf chimes in, "He HEE! Ace wins the race! Ace wins the race!"

Valan locks a steely gaze on the elf noticing him for the first time. That is not needed. Followed by a look that might suggest "Don't Provoke" and then a smile, Well if you'd like to join us in this friendly game... Valan motions to an empty spot on the floor.

Turning back to Kermis.

That's one special rule! Ace is number one!Valan hits his own chest in what he hopes is a recognisable motion
But the rest are true to there number, But I got an eight to your six, How much bigger is an eight?

OOC: d4 too? ok spade,heart,club,diamond.1d4=3 Mine was an 8 of clubs

Strong! Valan mimics

Good! You understand. Valan points to cards in sucession, repeating Is stronger than bettween each pairs, we he hits ten he throws out a Jack, queen, the king, and finally anouther ace, to explain the relitive strength of each card.

Taking Kermis' card he resuffles putting much showmanship in his efforts. He pulls a card
Queen of Diamonds (1d13=12, 1d4=4)
and invites Kermis and the elf(if he is interested) to pull their own cards with his motions.

"KERMIS UNDERSTAND. KERMIS PLAY MORE. KERMIS LIKE STRONG CARD WITH PRETTY LADY."
He motions towards the queen that valan has just pulled and reaches into the deck and draws forth the 10 of spades. and smiling at the many dots on it realizing that it is a fairly strong card.

Hmmm Valan takes a moment to reexplian the sequence So I won that draw.

Right now nothing happens if you win
Valan smiles get alittle bigger Though, we could change that. Perhaps a minor wager? Shuffling there cards back into the deck.
