"So sir is for a woman too then?" Lasair wonders "And if 'Lord' and 'Lady' are also a replacement for the name, then what about examples like 'Lady Niobe' or 'Lord Pician' or 'Lord Westmoreland' where the name is also present? I do not understand this--is it a way to indicate a person's vhal? But then how would one know that for a stranger."Solange said:Rapture winces at the word slave being batted around and grows quiet.
Rapture recites, as if from a script she has memorized painstakingly, "M'lord or m'lady is the polite way to refer to gentleman or lady to make them feel special and noble. Sir and madam or lady are also acceptable, but more common. Names are used only by request."
Rapture chuckles, "So are you some trial we must endure?"Trouvere said:Keldar, observing, laughs. "Without trials and tribulations, no one can become a saint," he says, in pious tones.
"Not usually m'lady, but it can be. Lord and Lady before a name usually means that there is some official title, though it can be used simply to convey reverence of them. For someone who's name you do not know, you can only be polite and assume and treat them as if they have a title. It is best though to treat any master as a Lord or Lady," Rapture says. "Person, person as a Lord or Lady."Rystil Arden said:"So sir is for a woman too then?" "Some trials turn out to be blessings, do they not?" says Keldar. Then with a gentle smile, he comes out with yet more doggerel rhyming:Solange said:Rapture chuckles, "So are you some trial we must endure?"
"Really!?" The young fighter's enthusiasm is quickly clouded by the confused and conflicted look upon his face. "I mean, well... I really appreciate that." Thinking of his battered gear and total lack of healing supplies, Richard wonders how much he would need.Rystil Arden said:"If you need funds, Richard, you need but ask me," Lasair offers, although she is not addressed.
Richard nods reply to Rinya then watches the wild Elf ascend the stairs. Turning back to Rystil, the bulky young man - accustomed to his plate most day and night - sketches an akward bow. "You are most generous m'Lady, I will go find out what my expenses are and if you can help then I will gladly accept.Heckler said:"Thank you, Richard. I'd like get away from the current conversation as it is," Rinya replies sharply. She'll then head quickly upstairs.
[sblock=Rinya,(Dungannon)]Darnit. Was fun gaming with Lucien! Hopefully he'll wander back in when the mood strikes - sooner than later =-)Heckler said:[sblock=Richard]I spoke with Dungannon. He's trying to get all his games wrapped up so he can take a break. So Lucien won't be joining us.[/sblock]
Richard literally stares at Keldar, the naive youth simply amazed that the "bard" would be pushing the buttons on so many people, a Paladin first among them! While the young fighter is accustomed to rough jokes among guards and the like, he's simply unaccustomed to the "gentry" and their "wit".Trouvere said:Leaving Galwynn to his fit of pique, Keldar approaches Richard. "People seem touchy today," he says. "What in the conversation upset your friend, lady Starflower? She seemed not to appreciate my song earlier, either, though I sang it for her, and for my friend Rapture. Yes, it was my singing you heard. Actually, I'm working on a short rhyme, for another friend of mine." He nods his head backwards in the direction he walked from, then chants softly:
Hurrying to Covington,
Swiftly through the grass,
I saw a grouchy paladin,

Ask me his name,
Ask me it quick,
They call him Galwynn,
But Galwynn is a –
Prickles on the bushes,
Fruit on the trees,
Halina must be desperate,
With servants such as these.
He winks and puts a finger to his lips.
OOC - off to bed; no one kill Keldar while I'm asleep![]()
