Cleric Domain for Justice & Retribution?

Is there a more "flavorful" Cleric Domain than the Law Domain out there dealing with justice and retribution? I was hoping for something appropriate for a Lawful Neutral Cleric, an Inquisitor -- stern and unforgiving.

Some suggestions:

0-Level -- Detect Magic, Guidance, Resistance, and Virtue might fit a Lawful Neutral Cleric, but they don't necessarily belong in a Justice Domain.

1st-Level -- Command fits an agent of the law. Sanctuary seems to have an element of fairness. I can see an Inquisitor casting Bane, Bless, Cause Fear, Detect Chaos/Evil, Divine Favor, Doom, Protection from Chaos/Evil, Remove Fear, and Shield of Faith, but none of those seem especially just or lawful.

2nd-Level -- Perhaps a righteous executioner would cast Death Knell. An agent of the law could cast Hold Person, announcing the victim's crimes. Zone of Truth certainly fits.

3rd-Level -- Bestow Curse, at least used in a more classic Ravenloft style seems perfect for dispensing poetic justice. (Used to decrease an Ability score by six, it doesn't really fit.) Blindness/Deafness might also be an appropriate punishment for certain crimes.

Anyone have any better ideas for a Justice Domain than the bland Law Domain? As it stands, the Law Domain is primarily a list of attacks and defenses against monsters with the "Chaotic" label.

Retribution (FRCS, pg 65)

power - if you have been harmed by someone in combat, you may make a strike of vengeance with a ranged or melee weapon against that individual on your next action. if this attack hits, you deal maximum damage. you may use this supernatural ability once per day.

1) shield of faith
2) endurance
3) speak with dead
4) fire shield
5) mark of justice
6) banishment
7) spell turning
8) discern location
9) storm of vengeance

Thank you, Mr Fidgit; I don't own the Forgotten Realms book.

Sounds good.

Hmm...I'm not nearly as impressed with the actual spell list though. Most of the spells aren't totally inappropriate, but only Mark of Justice seems really appropriate. Storm of Vengeance sounds great, but it's just a big attack spell.

There's the Inquisition prestige domain from Defenders of the Faith. It doesn't exactly sound like what you want, but it's a place to get ideas from.

you're welcome, mmadsen.

the only other domain i've come across from any of the books i have is the Fury domain from OA. do you have it/want it?

I forgot to even look at Oriental Adventures. Thanks for jogging my memory. The Fury Domain just looks like a "Hurt Things" Domain though: Weapon Bless, Shatter, etc. I guess there aren't many spells with a Justice theme -- and the best one, Mark of Justice, doesn't do anything Bestow Curse can't do -- at 3rd level instead of 5th.

Thanks for the heads-up on that, Gumby. The Inquisitor Domain is all about seeing through lies, etc., though, right? Not exactly what I was looking for, but it certainly fits an inquisitor, no doubt about that.

well......justice ain't pain free, is it? :D

other than FR, OA, the PH and DotF (as Gumby mentioned), i don't have any other books with domains in them...

maybe someone with Kalamar or Book of the Righteous will wander in here...good luck! :)

Homebrew

My Homebrew Justice Domain:

Granted Powers: Knowlege (Law), Intimidation and Sense Motive are class skills. Free Feat Skill Focus (Sense Motive).

1: Comprehend Languages
2: Zone of Truth
3: Speak with Dead
4: Detect Thoughts
5: Mark of Justice
6: Geas/Quest
7: True Seeing
8: Anti-Magic Field
9: Miracle

Clearly this is a domain for Justices -- Judges, in other words. IMHO any world with magic villians needs magic judges.

The Justice domain from BotR:

- Grants free MWP and WF with longsword (this is tied in to the god who grants it, probably needs to be replaced for different deities)

1 - Command
2 - Zone of Truth
3 - Bind Oath (new spell - subject is bound to an oath)
4 - Mark of Evil (new spell - subject is emblazoned with a mark that shows up under detect evil, also prevents raising/ressurrection for a year and a day after death - Maal, god of justice, is also god of the underworld)
5 - Mark of Justice
6 - Geas/Quest
7 - Destruction
8 - Shibboleth (new spell - deafens/blinds/paralyzes/kills those of a different alignment than caster)
9 - Storm of Vengeance
