Cleric in Shackled City

Dykstrav

Adventurer
I'm getting ready to play Shackled City. I've basically settled on a straight cleric of Pelor build. The character will be designed to move in, drop cures on the fighter-types (yes, Dodge and Mobility will be my first-level feats), and help them hold the line while archers and arcane spellcasters blast away.

With this basic concept in mind and NO SPOILERS, can anyone suggest a prestige class that I can eventually shoot for that'd be good for this adventure path?

While not directly relevant, there is a feat in Complete Divine (forgot its name) that allows you to convert Turn Undead slots for extra healing. I've seen it used to great effect, so if you're going for the healer archertype I highly recommend it.

While I'm DMing SC, I can't think of a very appropriate PrC offhand. As a DM, however, I'd have no problem with nearly any PrC given enough advance warning. I suggest you imagine one or two PrCs you'd like and notify your DM.

Combat Medic from Heroes of Battle does the sorts of things it sounds like you want to do - heal well and stay alive while doing it. I wouldn't recommend Raidant Servant of Pelor - you'll only be good at killing undead, and little else.

Demiurge out.

Maybe when complete Champion comes out, you'll find a better path for a Pelorian. As it stands...nothing substantive stands out expect NOT taking RSoP. It's better reserved for Age of Worms.

You might want to check out ways to turn outsiders as well. Extra Turning and divine feats are best options I can think of.

That or else going an Exalted Pr-class from say Book of Exalted Deeds.

This statement confuses me. The only negative difference you have as a RSoP is d6 HD instead of d8.

You get full caster progression.
You get 3/4 BAB.
You get Martial Weapons.
You also get better cure spells, and an extra domain.

The RSoP is an undead killing one trick pony, only if you consider any cleric with the Sun domain a one trick pony, which I think is foolish.
No offense meant, just do not see any justification for the contention.

Why do you want to shoot for a prestige class?

I can understand someone seeing a particular prestige class and thinking, "Yeah, I want to play that." But it seems odd that someone just wants to take "some" prestige class. What's wrong with just continuing as a straight cleric?

If you are playing a combat healer, look at the healer class from the Minis handbook. Just the boost to your level 0 cure wounds spells make that class a godsend.

One of the players in my SC campaign ran this and did pretty well overall. Used a lot of that feat, align weapon to help out the fighters and what not.

I can't see any value in dodge and mobility at all. And no, there really aren't any worthwhile prestige classes for cleric other than the god specific ones. Take divine metamagic and maximize and scribe scroll. Once my cleric got sound lance in SC the melee became completely irrelevant, the mages were killing everything in the first or second round of combat at 100+ feet out.
