Clone Wars: Chapters 11-20 [Spoilers]

John Crichton

First Post
Just watched Chapter 13 - The second part of the Mace Windu on Dantooine fight. Very cool! :)

The first part (chapter 12) was neat seeing him in action and well animated. I certainly got the feeling that is the baddest-ass of all the Jedi, just like in Attack of the Clones. Only this time he gets to do more and the fight is all about him. He lightsaber skills bordered on arrogance which was interesting. He almost seemed bored.

The entrance of the giant droid "stomper" was very stunning. I certainly didn't see that coming. Mace looses his lightsaber and is surrounded by droids at the end. Fade to black. I wanted more.

Chapter 13. Wow.

A wave of his hands and Windu sends the entire surrounding droid force flying away. Then he proceeds to pound the droids into scrap using his fists. How freakin' cool is that?! :D I especially enjoyed him using the force to strip one of the droids of his bolts and then using the bolts as ammo against other droids. Too cool.

And then the final showdown with the "stomper." We all saw it coming. Cuts a circular hole in the side, Qui-gon style, and then hacks the ship apart from the inside. Sweet. Great final touch with him getting a drink from the kid's canteen. That was a play on something, I just can't place it.

I'm so loving these shorts. I can't get enough of them. Getting me even more pumped for Episode III. :)

Cool episodes. But I wonder, can Mace do all of those amazing things in "real life", or were cartoon physics involved? If the medium were live action instead of animation, would we see a Jedi leap hundreds of feet in the air, to the point of where he was nearly flying? We've never seen such a Jedi feat on film, as far as I know.

I bet we'll find out more in Episode III. I'm sure a little of it was because of the toon-physics but it's not out of the realm of possibility with the leaping. We already know about the super-speed so leaping is probably just a by-product. And don't forget Darth Maul and Obi-wan hopping around on Naboo. Those were not short jumps.

Definitely Toon-physics, while Jedi are capable of a lot, these shorts are over the top. In fact watch some episodes of Samurai Jack and compare them to the shorts. There's a big similarity (they're made by the same guy after all).

The series keeps getting better and better every time I watch it. Chapter 13 is definitely my favorite so far. I must say, this has really brought my enthusiam level for the third film back up.

Chapter 14 - The Battle for Ilum (or something like that)

Ah, the first time we get to actually see a lightsaber being constructed. I am a fan of the game and I figured it would look something like that, but only it would take a little longer. Made sense that they would shorten it up a bit because of time. I had no problems with that. It was very cool. :)

Being a huge Star Wars fan of not only the films but the videogames (especially KoTOR) and the RPGs (both versions) the crystal cave was just a huge geekgasm.

The nod to Hoth at the beginning was well done. The fight inside the caves (as usual) blew me away. I actually felt terror when the timebombs went off and then sorrow as the two Jedi meditated as their sacred temple crumbled around them. With Yoda on the way, the pudu is about to hit the fan. I can't wait...

This was my favorite chapter so far. 4 stars out of 4.
