Clones Q&A

We know that in RotS the fighter pilots are clones, but I don´remember if the crew in the star destroyers are clones or not. In the episodes IV-VI, those aren´t clones, and it´s likely that the academy Luke speaks of in a new hope is run by the empire.

Well, we got a glimpse of a "Star Destroyer" interior at the very end of Sith...and the officers and crew were definitely not clones.

And yes, the Academy Luke was talking about was the Imperial Academy.

OK, did anyone care about the links to the interview wiht direct quotes from Lucas?

Partial original clones, partial new clones, partial conscripts/recruits.

Those who have seen all six movies now know that there is a direct link between the Clone Troopers of the first three episodes and the Storm Troopers of the three that follow. So are all those soldiers from the original trilogy actually just the same guy? "Yes," Lucas said. Fair enough, master — but if that's true, then why do the troopers in the earlier movies possess different voices?

"Well, yeah, some of the voices have been changed, um, to make it more consistent," he said, raising an eyebrow at the precociousness of the Padawan. Indeed, Lucas has gone back and changed the voices of the Storm Troopers during recent re-edits for the special editions. "Those particular two guys that you're talking about — which I know about, which is a very good performance — the idea is that over time, there were new clone strains introduced, and then they even conscripted guys to be Storm Troopers. So it's not just purely clones: It started out as clones, but then it got diluted over the years as they found out they could shanghai guys [more cheaply] than they could build clones."
Impressive, as Darth Vader might say — most impressive. So then, if many of the Storm Troopers are indeed photocopies of Jango Fett, does that mean that when Boba was on Cloud City, he could have turned to any of them and asked them to take off their masks, only to find his dad standing there?

"Well, there's like a 50/50 chance," Lucas answered. "Not necessarily — he could be anybody, he could be the Mock 2 or the Mock 3, or he could just be some poor guy who got shanghaied."

Its been said a billion times in the EU that stormtroopers are recruited humans. Its fine that at first the army was composed of clones, but eventually they would all die and be replaced by regular humans. Why spend untold amounts of time and money on clones when you can just use kids who were raised to believe in the Empire for free?

Well, in all fairness to bloated military expenditures, they were clones of the greatest bounty hunter who ever lived. I mean, if you're gonna clone somebody...

Somebody who got his head lopped off in a fourth of a second, who's clone/son is knocked into a pit of death on accident. Seems like a waste of cash to me. :D

All the Clones plus the Fetts are True Mooks, to the PCs (or similar status NPCs) they are cannon fodder, to anyone else the are the "Kings of Bad Ass" like ninjas or pirates.

I figure there is at least one clone still around by ANH: the stormtrooper who knocks his head on the cross beam of the rebel cruiser in the revised ANH scene where Vader captures Leia, just like J. Fett did getting into his ship.
