Closed - 3.5 D&D adventure - Dangerous Legacy

Looks like the party can use some additional combat expertise to help out the paladin. I'm working on Kale, a barbarian who wields a bastard sword and sometimes a shield. I'm building him off this image.

Here's a small one resized for the map and made a little more bold (47x47, right?).

I'll edit more info into this post as I create him. I would appreciate a little background on what sort of barbarian tribe he might be from. I picture him as a wanderer who is the last of his clan after intertribal conflict broke out into massive violence.

Kale

Human Barbarian 3

Background: Born to the Danugh Clan high in the hills in the northern edge of the valley, Kale was the son of the chieftain and destined to one day rule his people. The ancestors had decreed it so. Until the day the Ferrans, a neighboring clan that had always been the Danugh’s strongest rival, swept out of the mountains and assaulted the clan. Kale had been away during the attack that ended with the death of his father and his six siblings. Arriving back at the lodge, he stood as the timbers burned around him. The only survivor, the wise woman, swore that the omen still held true. The remnants of the Danugh were scattered, and clan destroyed. Kale now wanders the lands of Enber, crossing its breadth from north to south and exploring the lake’s many shores.

Appearance: An imposing figure, Kale stands nearly six and a half feet tall and has the thick, sinewy muscles of a man accustomed to hardship and battle. His arms and chest are covered with countless scars from his rough life. He started balding at a young age, and now wears his hair long in the back and sides. His grey mane flows into a thick beard that reaches down to his chest. He refuses most of the trappings of civilization, feeling it weakens his connection with the Valley to cloth himself in the cloth of the city-dwellers. Steel bangles encircle his ankles and left arm, and he often reaches over and spins the one highest one above his bicep as he speaks. A thick silver bracer with a large green stone graces his right forearm; the last artifact of his tribe.

About this character: Gruff and short-tempered, Kale has spent most of his adult life alone and in the wilderness. His abrupt manner hides a person who truly cares about those around him if they have earned his respect and the innocent. He once dreamed of revenge against the tribe that slaughtered his kin. As he grows older, the dream drifts further away.

I just noticed that you're having them make 3rd level characters. You are aware that the rest of us are measly 2nd levelers, right?

ah.. you figured it out... the moment you step on the boat to go to Enberton, you will also be third level characters :D

(Though, you'll have 25% more XP than the new additions)

Odo is a great name for a halfling (I believe you said halfling in an earlier post... I love halflings) and he sounds good. Can't wait to see him.

Kale looks fantastic. Great mini, great pic, everything looks great on him. Hide, Move Silently, and Track are perfect choices for his campaigne bonuses for his history/character/arctype/whateveryoucallit:D)

Welcome to the game, gentlemen. Bob, go ahead and add Kale to the rogue gallery.

Sadly, it is very late and I'm beat. The last couple days have been horribly hectic for me and I'm beat (or did I say that already? :D) I'll get with you tomorrow on how to bring Kale and Odo into the game. Feel free to introduce yourselves in the OOC thread.

Sounds good. I'll read over everything more in depth and work on a character.

I probably won't have one up until Monday, though, as I'm going out of town for a long weekend. I'm glad to be part of the group!

Posted! Thanks, 'Detta. I wanted an outdoorsy, Celtic-themed tracker. Which brings up my next point...

I see Kale as a trapper more than a hunter (you will notice a total lack of ranged weapons). Nothing wierd for traps, just stuff like pit traps and snares; the sort of stuff he could make in the wilderness without needing any supplies. As of now, there is nothing in his sheet to reflect his ability to make these sort of traps. Any chance I could swap a couple class skills in for Disable Device? Then I could shift some skill points into Craft (Traps) and Disable Device. I would be willing to drop Ride (I don't see his clan as horsemen, but more runners) and Swim (Bah, Kale doesn't like Water all that much anyhow. Give him solid land, thank you.) Otherwise, are you comfortable letting Kale make simple traps using his Survival skill?

Also, I added a dagger (mostly for eating, skinning prey, that sort of thing) and a handaxe (for choppin' trees, natch).

I've got a few ideas bouncing around in my head at the moment, but I'm going out of town for a few days. So I should have something up Sunday/Mondayish.

One quick question, would you allow ascetic rogue to apply to ninja? I had thought of a monk/ninja, or maybe a rogue/psion heading towards shadowmind. Oh and I second your view of Complete Adventurer. My favorite 3.5 book hands down. :)

Sunday/Monday... heck, even tuesday... would be great for those characters, guys.

I'll accept either the monk/ninja or ninja/psion. (the latter would probably be deadly!)

I'm completely new to these boards and thus shamelessly whoring myself out, but if you still need/want another player, I'd love to work something up with you.

Keepin' my fingers crossed...
