R-Reesa's gone!?

...

Aw, man. Well...erm...Pounamu, good luck!

Ooh, ooh! And I'm playing...erm...well, a normal person. Yeah. No sorcery, no guns, no odd hair or eye color.

I'll be mistakened for an NPC, or piece of the backdrop. You just watch. ;)

You really must keep an eye on the other ooc threads, Gene. So much gets mentioned there. Indeed, our Reesa declared her departure in this past week. I still plan on consulting with her when she has time, TMP was Dantain and her creation, along with a great deal for all the interested patrons. I don't ever want her to feel like she's not part of it, ;) even if she has chosen to be off the team. :(

Just to note - this is the name of the character I've designed for The Meeting House.

I have a question as far as weaponry goes. Is there a place where weapons that would be otherwise visable could be checked in and picked up at the end of the "night"? Say with a number system as in you get given a number when you put in a weapon and you give the number back when you take your weapon and leave. And perhaps have to put cash down as a sort of insurance?

I was wondering if it could sort of be you get in the door - go to the weapons terminal and check your stuff in (so everyone stays safe inside ) then head on into the night-club so the weapons check-in was a sort of go-between a sort of thing increasing the safety of the place in general - so that hopefully no one (especially not Pounamu) or any of the bouncer peoples get shot at by enraged patrons. And so no one starts shooting the roof!!!

Also I'd like to note: I can't wait for TMP to get up and running. Ooooo 2030, wonder what sort of technology would be available???

Luv Blayde.

If you're thinking about strolling in the front door with an M-16 or a sword in hand and checking it along with your coat, I would say "No way!" Remember, this is New York City in the not-so-distant future. Roaming around openly armed will get you arrested and detained for questioning at the very least, unless you're wearing an NYPD uniform AND have a good reason for the heavy armament. (Even on-duty cops leave their shotguns in their patrol vehicles, and only carry a pistol and a nightstick in the normal course of their duties.)

If you must go armed, do it discreetly. Limit yourself to something that can be easily concealed, and keep it out of sight at all times.

Flattered. ;) But you'd have more risk of Pounamu taking it for he personal collection if she sees it on you...

You are not going to be searched but weaponry is not to be seen. A coat room is for coats and bags, no guarentee you'd get weaponry back.

As for types, I believe someone brought this up before but I'd need to find it. ><
Don't go too far out over it, you only have about 25yrs for technology to develop it, unless by some great stroke of fate you encountered, understod and accepted alien technology.

I've been thinking.

Logically with crime increasing, wouldn't you want increased security in the future? Perhaps a metal detector or something and a local NYPD officer to look after weapons that are liscensed (for the duration that the person is there) and confiscate those that aren't. 'Cos the theory is that weapons will have advanced and officers will want to be getting the weapons that aren't legal issue (since a bullet proof vest is only bullet proof against legal issue weapons). And with the exsisting age limit, the cop could double as an ID checker - keeping everyone in line.

It probably sounds rediculous... but I don't know how close to probable reality you guys want to push it. So maybe with the IDs they have to go through a scanning system to avoid the fakes. Hey imitations are becoming better and better.

Anyway just my thoughts!! *grins* And I'm not
thinking about strolling in the front door with an M-16 or a sword in hand and checking it along with your coat

But lets be real. Most people in the big cities carry some weaponry for protection and with crime on the increase wouldn't peoples desire for protection increase?

A bill was passed earlier this year in NY state which:
Provides for a new article to the constitution for the right to keep and bear arms; provides that the people shall have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, for lawful hunting and recreational use, and for any other lawful purposes and no county, municipality or other political subdivision of the state shall regulate, in any way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms; provides that no law shall impose licensure, registration or special taxation on the ownership or possession of firearms or ammunition, nor shall any law permit the confiscation of firearms except those actually used in a felony, nor shall any law prohibit any specific model or class of firearm.

Question: How do we want the legality of weaponry to be in the year 2030?

Admittedly, this bill confuses me, but in general terms it would mean that small personal firearms and hunting arms are legal to own. Businesses however tend to be classed as private property and have the right to refuse entry or enforce a dress code.

Unless you manage to give one of my staff a personal grudge against you ( ) I don't care whether they're legal or not just don't wave 'em about or I'll take 'em off you. :P

The night club is just a night club and wouldn't worry about gang warfare etc very much because we have means to deal with extreme troublemakers while waiting for the proper authorities. Metal detectors aren't likely to work in a society where personal modification, implants etc have become a lil more commonplace (No total cyborg gangs yet please people) if still ridiculously expensive and weaponry can probably be made using alloys that don't set your basic detector off.
Security is tighter out the back however as there is a government agency upstairs (WIZO) and staff may scan the room generally every now and then to pick out any lead casing that may be hiding something more dangerous than a personal firearm.

If they see 'em, yer gone.

If they find 'em, yer gone.

If you've got it on your person for an emergancy, and no one knows about/rats you out, yer fine.

That seems like how it should work, heh. And yes, businesses are classified as private, and any club that would ever, Ever allow a weapon into their building is commercially suicidal. That doesn't mean they're going to errect metal-detectors, though.. that is -way- too much of a hassal for a club, unless it's Uber-Ritzy. Expect to have security hoist yer arse out if you're waving a knife or gun around in Any business, though.. I honestly don't think this would change all that much in 25 years.

That bill just means that if you've got the licensing and permits, you're not going to get jumped by NYPD for having a holster at your side. Walking around the city with a shotgun or a rifle over your shoulder, however, is another story...

I dink da bill's purpose was to prevent Anti-Gun lobbiests from trying to find ways to limit that section of the Constitution.. I dunno. **Pokes Donny?**

**Rereads Bill. EDIT::** Private buildings can still deny weapons from their grounds, but ya.. I guess that means that New Yorkers can carry concealed weapons galore, without licensing, an' all that fun stuff.
**Boggles** Are you sure they actually passed that already? Seems a li'l over the top to me..
