Well, what are your thoughts on it?
It was ok. I called it 'West Wing Lite(tm)' last night. It didn't do enough to hold my interest, though I may watch it next week to see if it does any better (pilots can be notoriously difficult to maintain interest, since they have a very different purpose than a normal show).

The best parts were her husband as FLOTUS. ;)

Just about finishing viewing it. Dirty Pool has started with the speech promoter. And like all new shows, in their alpha state...things will be flesh out. Hmmm, looking at the preview for next week. Looks, all the fangs to deseat her, are in play.

I will be watching it.

I liked it. I'm going to give it 5 episodes to see if it gets better, but I think it has premise. I liked how she brought the foreign ambassador into the room with the military and explained exactly what would happen if the imprisoned woman was not released immediately. It gave the character some credibility.

So, is there a deeper premise in there somewhere? Having a female President just because seems like just a gimmick designed to make the show feel different.

That's what I'm thinking, too. Moreover, I don't think Commander in Chief stands up to West Wing, at least not yet. If they keep on the "Oh no, she's a woman" bit, I'll probably lose interest. I'm afraid they'll go in a bad direction for the show, but I think it's going to be almost impossible to last anyway. It has too stiff a competition with West Wing and will be compared to it too much.

By that standard, though, we only need one doctor show, one lawyer show and one cop show. It's all about execution, not premise.

There's a big difference between having five or ten different "cop shows" and having multiple shows about the White House. A cop show is a generic thing, that you can take in any number of directions - a show about the President of the US is, by definition, a lot more specific. Which is why I think they felt they went for a gimmicky premise to differentiate themselves from the West Wing.

You say that like its a bad thing. :p

Yes, execution can give a tired premise life but its also nice to have something fresh on TV too.

Didn't actually watch the show in question. "West Wing with Hilary" didn't grab my attention.
