Well, I finally realized I needed to step up and monetarily support the people who make this website possible, and became a community supporter.

...but after doing it (payment through paypal), nothing changed. Is this something that has to happen manually on your end, or do I need to do something else?

ETA- Nevermind! It happened. Thank you to Morrus and to all the people who make this place so amazing.

And I will recommend to everyone who enjoys it ... become a supporter. You'll feel good, and ... get rid of those ads.

You don't need to be a supporter for the avatar (AFAIK).

There was a time, long ago, when avatars were a supporter feature. I think now they are available to all.

I updated the title to the thread. I know meta doesn't get a lot of traffic, but I am going to add this addendum.

I've been a frequent commenter for a while. And I've always thought about being a community supporter, but never got around to pulling the trigger. Because I'm lazy, or because I had to type even more words about something, probably.

I know that Morrus and company don't push it, but I will say this- if you use the website (these forums) a lot, you should do it. It's only $5 a month- that's less than a fancy drink at Starbucks! It gets rid of the annoying ads. And it's really easy- it's just a paypal, and even if you don't have an account, it's just a few clicks.

It helps you sleep better at night. I can't make anyone else do it, but I will say this- don't be a bard. If you love something, and you use something, then do the right thing. I should have done it before now, so I am saying- it's cheap, it's painless, and it goes to good folk.

I hope so. Bourbon hasn’t been doing the trick lately. And the ads? They do not get along with my mobile browser. I’m looking forward to waving them goodbye. However, like the OP, I have paid with the PayPal (in my case on Thursday) but have yet to see the ads disappear. Is this something that TPTB can please help me with?

Yes, well, that means you paid just before GenCon. That may mean our Fearless Leader might be a bit distracted at the moment.

Yeah, it took a short while for mine to take hold after paying. I believe (based on that, and what Umbran just wrote) that Morrus processes them after receiving payment.

You'll know when you see the green "supporter" badge under your name!
