Complete Classes not supported in PHBII?

In the PHBII there are a few classes that are not supported in the PHBII. A few of them I understand. All of the Oriental flavored classes are not in there, perhaps for the reason that they are more Setting Specific. But then what about the Spirit Shaman and the Spell Thief? Are these classes then not considered a part of the Core Classes or whatever they are now? Will they recieve any more support?

What do you think?

Would you as a DM now allow the Classes supported in the PHBII in your game now? Including the new classes presented there? Or would you still hold strong to the asking permission for the character as some may be broken/unsuited for the world that you have made no matter WOTC's stand on the Classes?

I am just interested in your opinions, let me know what you think.

I will still require players to ask me about playing things not in the PH or my campaign guide. Just because it's supported in the PH2 doesn't automatically make it fair game in my campaign- though I really like the PH2 and am really glad to see that much support for non-core stuff. :)

Maybe the writers just couldn't come up with anything fair and / or balanced for those other non-core classes?

They had a pretty hard time as it is with some of the classes that made it in.

I dunno, buffing up the healer wouldn't be terribly hard, and given that they get a unicorn companion before too long, that seems like an obvious class ability to give an alternate for.

I gotta believe the descision was conciously made to NOT support the unsupported classes, probably due to early descisions (no Orientals, no Psionics) and balance/campaign subjectivity concerns (the Spirit subtype for the Spirit Shaman, the preponderance of magic in the setting for the Spelltheif), if not balance concerns (I can't see anything wrong with either of 'em, but I haven't seen 'em in action, either).

Still, I wish they would've considered the psionic classes. They're much more accessible than any of the Complete classes, and psionics have a much deeper tradition in the game. I guess I can't fault them, but the idea of supporting classes not freely available rubs me the wrong way in general.
