COMPLETELY unnattached to life.

I think the key here is something that can reproduce quickly and cheaply.

Skaven (ratmen) are a good choice-- life is cheap in a litter of 30.

The other option would be undead or very cheap constructs.

Or even plants, especially when "dying" just means falling into the soil to spread your seed. Their heads could bust open like ripe fruit and seeds go flying everywhere.

Best visual ever. For some reason, I think this one is really, really creepy. I may need to borrow this.

Whatever happend to orcs?

I like Wulf's suicidal magnolias though. They're also an excuse to toss in lots of vegtable based poisions. Sure, the party can memorize cure poison, but can they memorize it FIFTEEN TIMES?!?!?! Muah-hah-hah!

My it's the Shakespearean in me but this image is painful.

Do they have to be humanoids? I've run trolls that dropped from ledges or bull rushed the PC's and carried them over cliffs before. The PC's laid there writhing in pain while the trolls got up and started that whole regeneratin' thing and proceeded to kick PC booty. My players were appalled that I pulled that trick on them....they never expected that.

BlackMoria beat me to it. Gibberlings from the (Forgotten Realms CS) fit the description of low Hit Dice suicidal swarming humanoids, to a 'T'. Look'em up. You'll see. ;)
