Con goers -- speak of thy booty! (Briefly)

Anybody notice if the Wilderlands boxed set was released by Necromancer?

Yes, yes it was. Buttercup got it and is chatting it up in the "How I love you" thread. I chatted a bit with Clark & Bill and they said it was selling very good for them.

Which brings up another thing I missed: I really wanted to lay eyes on Dead Man's Chest but it was sold out. :(

I spent rather more than I should have, since I filled some holes in my collection. For instance, I picked up Codex of Erde, since I didn't get my hands on it when it first came out. I won't mention all of the older stuff, since probably everyone else who wanted it already has it.
  • The Wilderlands boxed set /me pirouettes around the room with it. I love this thing. Love it! As I said elsewhere, it's so evocative, it almost makes me cry. Clark and Bill are my gods for publishing this.
  • Magical Society: Beast Builder I need to read this more carefully, because so far I have just skimmed it. But I really think this may be the be-all, end-all monster book. (Happy sigh.)
  • Monster Geographica: Forest & accompanying Fiery Dragon Counters Nifty small, portable monster book, with matching counters done by the fabulous Claudio Pozas.
  • Counter Collection Digital, volume 2 What would I do without Fiery Dragon Counters? It brings me great comfort that I'll never have to find out. The digital collections are the best thing since sliced bread. I bought the first one when it came out, so I'm happy glad they were offering a choice of getting the two volume set or just the second one as a stand alone package.
  • Paranoia XP I walked right by this display on Thursday since I had no interest in it. Then I played in Crothian's Paranoia Orc & Pie game and nearly injured myself laughing. So next day, I bought the main book, Service Pack One, as well as a few of the supplemental books. I wanted the GM screen as well, but it had already sold out. I can't wait to run this at a party.
  • T-Shirts Heh.:heh: I bought a few. Ok, I bought five! So sue me. One of them has become my new signature. Another isn't grandma friendly, but Psion mentions it in another thread (filtered version, that is), and then I got a few more. But hey, I haven't bought any t-shirts for a few years, so it was time.
  • Dice I bought 4 sets, two for DH and two for me. I let him pick which two sets he wanted, and naturally he picked my two favorites. But don't tell him. He was a good sport about staying home while I ran off to GenCon, so I think I can live with the pain.;)
Edit: I also bought True20, Thieves' World and Temple Quarter from the fine folks at Green Ronin. They all rock.

Well, it's obviously already out in Portrugese. I just got a "sample copy" in English. I know they approached a publisher about publishing it for them here, but I don't think I am free to say who and it's quite possible they approached publishers that I don't know about.

Argh. This is an example of what I miss most about GenCon: the unique stuff you just don't find anywhere else (except, I guess, Portugal :p ) Now I'm really hoping a publisher does pick it up, just so I can look at it.

Also, I now want Mage so badly I can taste it.

One of my best buys for the week was a bundled package of all of Wizkids' now-defunct Crimson Skies collectible minis for $15. I've never played that game, but I want to run a campaign in the Crimson Skies universe, and now I've got a few dozen planes, heroes and mapboards to do the trick!

I actually did pretty good overall. I spent more money on things that I couldn't really get outside of the con as opposed to books I can anywhere. Here are some highlights:

  • Thieves' World - It's no surprise TW was on quite a few people's lists. I was really glad to play in the TW game run by Rob and then get my copy signed by Lynn and Rob.
  • Warmachine Apotheosis - one of the most beautiful books I've ever seen, regardless of game or system. If you took the game rules out of it, you would simply have a book of artwork.
  • Iron Kingdoms/Warmachine artwork - I bought about 6 prints from the Privateer booth and got Matt Wilson and Chippy to sign them.
  • Discounted stuff - I picked up the Banewarrens and an SR3 book for 50% off. There were a lot of deals to be had in the hall.
  • Original Shadowrun artwork - Klaus Scherwinski (artist for FanPro) was selling some prints of his art (which I bought) and he was gracious enough to do a quick sketch on the inside cover of my SR rulebook.

Did anyone see the Dark Legacies campaign setting? I wasn't there long enough to look over the whole con, but that was one item I was looking forward to seeing.

It looked really good, I didn't pick it up as I was hoping Wildwood would find its way to the con.
