Con goers -- speak of thy booty! (Briefly)

I got some good stuff! There was less swag to be had this year than past years, at least for free. But, I did get a few D&D minis and a sweet Hecatomb t-shirt. Here is what I bought:
  • Order of the Stick, both books. These are *great*. Buy them. Rich is awesome in person, too- a genuinely friendly, funny guy.
  • Dice set.
  • Tiny red dragon for my daughter.
  • Mutants & Masterminds Second Edition. Again, Steve Kenson is a wonderful person in addition to being one heck of a great game designer.
  • Villany Amok (a Champions book). Pulp Heroes sold out fast for those keeping track...
  • Monte Cook Presents Best of d20 2005. This looks really good so far.
  • Nocturnals, for cheap.
  • Weapons of Legacy, for ridiculously cheap.
  • Hungry Little Monsters, from SKR Games. Sean's new Viking game will be *great*- get it when it comes out. I really loved the demo with Brian, even though I died quickly. LOL
  • A whole heck o' minis, some Reaper, some Confrontation, and some cool Tom Meier ones.
  • Some CCGs I will probably never actually play. But they looked cool. LOL

I'll attach a picture of my dice so you understand what I am talking about.[/QUOTE]

Darn nabbit, I missed those. I talked to the guy before they got in and forgot to keep checking for them. You gotta telkl me more about this card game, I love the rest of theirs.

The game draws from the LoTR movies, Labyrinth, Conan. Personally I was saddened that Legend didn't make it in there.

The goblin monsters are from Labyrinth with their quote as: "what babe...What power...do what?" There's also the Misunderstood monster (also from Labyrinth) with the quote "Ludo sad."

Skippy the Wonder Dog returns as a monster with the quote "What's that Skippy? You want to mutilate somebody?"

There's the Way Too Pretty Elf, which is a picture of a female elf but has the male trait (which I fell for after using the special effect "kill all female characters" and he was still alive).

The best prop is the chainmail bikini which makes the female character holding it unkillable.

There's the Guy Who Shows Up To Remind People That It's All Not Fun And Games. His special ability is when your movie is attacked, he dies first.

There's the Sneaky Guy who I got saddled with twice and who lowers your score by 5.

Ah, you are one of those who prevented me from buying more Z-man Games awesomeness! It's a damn shame that they sold out of it at the Con.

When I stopped by there and noticed that the game wasn't out anywhere, I asked about it and the guy said they were hoping to get 13 copies later that day and he was already saving a few out, but I could stop by around 4:00 to check. I asked how I could get on the list and he evaded the question.

When I went back at 4:00 there was a different guy working the booth, who when I asked about the game gave me a "how did you know they'd be here look" He said they had 12 copies and I bought 1. I don't believe they ever put any copies out on their table.

I didn't have as much spending power as I usually do, so I decided to conduct business with Joe and Suzi:

Expeditious Retreat Press - A Magical Society: Beast Builder
Expeditious Retreat Press - Monster Geographica Forest
Fiery Dragon - Counter Collection Untamed Woodlands
Expeditous Retreat Press - 1 on 1 Adventures #1 Gambler's Quest

I also got Hellhound's - Necromancer's Legacy as part of my booth volunteering swag (in addition to the CCG packs, free dice, and other minor swag from different booths).

Looking back at the trove of stuff that I brought home from previous GenCons, I can see that this time the booty and swag definately took a backseat to the socializing (and the results were better).

Hopefully, extra expenses will be minimal next year and I can have my cake and eat it too (lots of stuff and lots of socializing)...

*Serenity looks relaly good, I picked up a pair of copies for friends

First you suck.

Second how come there isn't a preview of whats in the book and everything like that. And can I buy the game today or do I have to wait a bit before it comes out.

I also attended the Roast of Ed Greenwood and they handed out Elminster minis with his D&D mini game stats for both regular play and the new epic rules.

Rats! I should have hit this as originally planned instead of going to the D&D movie preview! :(

I picked up a C&C PHB so I can stop bumming one off Scadgrad. :)

I also got Wilderlands even though it was $70, it was CHEAP for what you get. I honestly don't think I ever need to buy another gaming product. Well, I will, but not because I won't be lacking in source material. This thing is just phenomenal(sp).

Green Ronin's Dungeons of Doooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom. Awesome maps. It won a gold Ennie for a reason.

I picked up a set of the big dice for my daughter. It's her favorite toy now.

I got my niece some Teen Titan booster cards.

That's all I bought.

Swag? I got some books for working the Ennies booth. A module, something else I don't even know what, and Mazes of Minotaurs. I don't really know much about them, but they look decent enough.

I got a Heroscape orc riding a wolf which is cool, and a fire giant mini from the Magnificent Ego's group, also for working the ENWorld booth. Bunches of card packs which I'll give to my gaming buddies.

Crap! I almost went to that! Would love to have gotten that mini.
