Conan & lone wolf

Well, White Wolf's important non-d20 RPGs are the World of Darkness games and Exalted.

WoD got a new start some months ago and Exalted is going strong.

White Wolf still controls a large part of the RPG market. They've got their players out there. My gaming group currently has a World of Darkness/Vampire the Requiem game going. As far as Conan, I dunno.

It's kinda nice to have something else to go to, to get a break from d20, IMHO.

I don't understand the question?

Conan is still going strong. The Mercenaries book just came out not too long ago and they've got a boxed set coming out in a short time.

The new World of Darkness stuff keeps pouring out with books like Ghost Tales, Corties, and Nomads, among others I probably missed.

Any chance he meant "lone wolf" not "white wolf"?

White Wolf has plenty of d20 RPGs worth playing (Adventure d20, World of Warcraft, etc.)

I personally have no interest in Lone Wolf. Guess you had to have read the books.

Conan I kept around primarily as a sourcebook for Grim Tales.

Sorry, I meant "Lone Wolf." It's just that I never see ANY discussion of these products here. Even other company products get discussed here. I've asked around at all the game shops here in town, and nobody really even knows about the CONAN RPG.

I'm thinking it's because it's not compatable with D&D/d20 and is a different system. Yes?

Conan is compatable with D&D. Now because there are so many different d20 games out there it is nearly impossible for every store to know about all of them (noone around where i live has ever heard of castles & crusades or grim tales).

Every player would have to own the RPG to play the game unless you purchase the 'mini-rule-book.'

I don't think people are necessarily turned off by the OGL approach in either Conan or Lonewolf. (But they are different games than standard d20)

Lonewolf for example has reduced combat options (no AoO, trips, grapples, bull rushes, etc), no feats, and no character races. Everything is built into the classes and order of choice individualises the characters. The game "feels right" when compared to the original books though.

There is a lot of talk on the Mongoose Boards (www.mongoosepublishing.com) about both lines and their are several new releases in developement for Conan, miniatures to support Lone Wolf, and Matthew was here a couple of weeks ago with an open call for LW, Conan, B5, and SST Adventutre writers. So there should be some more adventures for those lines in the future as well.
