Conan while not just about strenght and chainmail bikinis is just about strenght and chainmail bikinis...not that there is anything wrong about that.

Elric was your brooding anti-hero, the first I remember reading of. He was alien, cold, cruel, nasty, and dependant on drugs and a sword for his power.

I went with both. Had to give it up to Elric, Conan has a lot going for him but was really just a fantasy clone of heros of his time such as Tarzan and Doc Savage. Elric moved from the norm of your powerful heros and much like Marvel did at the time created heros with issues and problems. It is interesting to note how the time of creation of the characters effected their natures.
