CONAN: Shadizar map debacle?

Perhaps Rasyr, however Mongoose has already laid a bed of coals for itself to walk over, so they are ripe to receive fire like this. I've not been poking holes at them over it, but thats because they are already so riddled with them that one more wouldn't be noticed. ;)
Yes, there is much else to have have fun with in relation to Mongoose. I was just pointing out that that map issue was actually something that could happen to anybody (and gave the example of it happening to WotC (though on a smaller scale) to show the point).

And IIRC, at the time that the map was commissioned, nobody had heard anything bad about the artist. Heck, he did the first Cyradon map for us (long story about why the final map ended up being by somebody else).

thanks Turjan and GentleGiant - I missed that up there... hehe

and ... ugh! That isn't even what I would call a good map to begin with....

Umm.. nevermind what I said above, make fun of Mongoose over it all you want.....

That's right, Howard never fleshed the city out. The problem seems to be that the canals aren't mentioned in the boxed set, either ;).

Okay, there you have me! :)

I gather that the writer involved generally does not bother with maps at all. (Which would drive me up the wall if I were a publisher.) Which is how the error could creep in to begin with.

But to steal a map off of the WotC website... what was that idiot artist thinking?!!!

The Auld Grump

It's really up to the project editor to put the maps with the writing. That's why I'm wondering who the editor was.

My CONAN-The RPG book here reads:
"Development & Editing - Ian Barstow"
"Proofreading - Bridette Kirwen" ---yea...this person got paid too much.

Suppose it was the same people on this project that put love-canals in Shadizar (not out of place..but they 'aint' holding water folks ;)

commissioned Ed Bourelle

It appears that Mongoose has commissioned Ed Bourelle to do the replacement map. Anybody know his work?

I consider him one of the best if not the best cartographer currently working in the business. He has a great reputation from both fans and publishers. He does awsome work.
