Hopefully this won't effect New York City's chances for 2012. :(

But a hearty congratulations to Vancouver just the same. :)

Woo-hoo Vancouver! Although someone at the office was walking around yesterday saying "WE got the winter olympics!". Several people (including me) thought he meant Winnipeg. Lol we could handle the hockey and curling, but our total lack of mountains would have made the downhill skiing events rather lackluster. :D

Actually, they said on the news that the europeans preferred voting for Vancouver, to increase their chance for France to obtain the 2012 summer olympics...

Don't get your hopes up!

Well there seems to be pretty good support for the games here. There were 17,000 people in GM place at 8 in the morning waiting for the announcement. Or maybe they were just waiting for hockey to start again.

I wonder if T-Bill is dancing in the streets or fearing the day when the "circus comes to town"...? :)

While I'm excited that the games are coming to my home town I'm torn over how much the games will actually boost the economy in the long run... They are *very* expensive to host and I hope the city isn't digging themselves into an even deeper hole.

Fast Ferries anyone?

A'koss.

Yay, Vancouver!

I don't know if the IOC can ignore the time zone of NYC, though the European cities will bring a tough fight. It's all about the bling-bling.

I think it's just what BC needs. The Winter Games are a helluva lot cheaper than the Summer Games. Montreal did it the wrong way, Calgary did it the right way. I think Vancouver can pull it off well.
