Constitution - The Most Important Ability Score of the Game?

But I feel Cha is a fairly underused stat, and most DMs have to agree with me on that one. If you're not a sorceror, then you likely won't have cha higher than 14. .

Where are these people? I'm sure it's true but we have a Ranger who's highest stat of 16 is in Charisma. The Wizard had his second highest score in charisma. I've played with groups of no sorcerers bards and paladins, but everyone had a 14 charisma or higher. We don't use any special rules for charisma either.

I agree with Crothian. In my personal opinion, I like to play characters with high charisma and high intelligence. The mental abilities effect the foundation of the character's personality, and to me that's more important than something that gives you five extra hit points.

And both in D&D and out of it, constitution is your physical health, your stamina, metabolism, immune system, and physical durability. I don't see what that has to do with your spirit.

I always figured the stats were grouped thusly:
int/con -- the internal hardiness.
wis/dex -- defense, that sort of thing
str/cha -- influencing the world, whether by arms or by force of personality.

I might run a game that is actually DnD but not tell anyone -- just have the stats grouped like that. Physical, Mental/Social and offensive/defensive/internal

What I'd also do is allow them to choose what was important -- things like offense, or things like Mental. That could be real interesting...

I wonder if players would change anything if they thought about it that way ... hmmm...

Don't undead use thair Cha mod when making fort saves? (The kind that objects need to make, too?)

Might that say then that Charisma and Constitution are linked?

Nope. Cha mod for Concentration checks. The whole force of personality thing still fits but I think Wisdom might work better.

An undead is immune to all effects that require a fort save unless they also affect objects but they gain no stat bonus (or penalty) to Fort saves.
