Continuing your campaign or starting fresh?

If I remain in the DM seat, I definitely plan on starting a new campaign (at which point I'll decide whether I'll continue using Eberron or give this new points-of-light thing [which, admittedly, has me very interested] a go).

My players and I agree that if we're going to use the 4e (and most, if not all, of us are quite eager to try it and really like the news so far), we should start from scratch and get to learn the rules from the base upwards.

Regards.

I'm taking the "Ultimate Marvel" route and starting from scratch but loosely based on the previous continuity... In fact, one of the villains disappeared in the Dancing Hut of Baba Yaga, and may end up appearing way later down the line.

Most of my group is pretty "MEH" about 4E, actually.

None of us particualrly want to re-invest time and money in learning another variation of the game we've played through three (and a half) editions.

That, and we're only into Adventure 2 of "Age of Worms".
And I want to run "Savage Tide" after that.

I have yet to finish my current campaign, which is going to be fully 3.5, no matter how 4th Ed. turns out to be; I've never liked changing rulesets in the middle of a campaign.

After that, I'm planning to run Savage Tide and maybe Paizo's Pathfinder APs. For convenience's sake, it'll most probably be in 3.5E, but I might convert them if I fall in love with 4E when it's out.

I feel like I have the biggest problem in this area. My d20 Modern campaign will be wrapping up around December, and I've been wanting to run Eberron after that...

Should I start a new campaign, only to drop it a few months later? Should I drag out my Modern game?/ Should I try to convert a game that hasn't been going that long? None of these options seems perfect.

I will end "the age of worm". Then I will decide what to do, maybe stop DMing for a while (let's say, one year... I will have something time consuming to do next year). And then, I will decide what to do next.

I'm going to complete my two campaigns in 3.5 (Shackled City and Age of Worms). After that I'm not too sure. I'd like to take a break from D&D for awhile, just to DM/GM something different. So far it's looking like maybe Spycraft 2.0 and Shadowrun.....

Still though, I've got at least 8 months of play before I get to that decision, so hopefully the verdict will be in on 4E.

Well, the current plan at my table is that the GM is going to take a break, and I'm going to run a game of 4E for a while to give him time to reflect. At that time, we'll decide whether to convert or whatever.

I will probably be using material from the Last Point of Light stuff that's been getting kicked around rpg.net. For those of you not familiar, it's as follows: The PCs are from a small, isolated village. Monster attacks are getting worse, and the baron and his soldiers set out to fight in some war several years ago, and never returned. It's been probably a decade and a half since proper tribute was paid to the king, the roads have been far too dangerous for taxpayers since then.

The merchants haven't come either, and the lack of things from the outside is beginning to sting. The baron's 'castle' had to be boarded up, after the last time Kobolds took up residence in it. Things are getting desperate, and the PCs, after a couple little scenarios to introduce themselves and let themselves get to feeling badass, are appointed to take several years worth of taxes, get to the Kingdom (it's estimated to be down a road on the other side of the mountain pass...in any case, they should be able to find their way eventually) and get help and supplies.

Slowly, over the course of exploration of ruined cities, scattered journals, wrecked villages and unburied dead, the PCs discover the truth. The fall of all mankind happened, and nobody thought to tell them. The monsters took over, and civilization gradually fell. As nearly as they can tell, they, and their village, is the last.

At the rate we get to play I'll be finishing the new Pathfinder adventure path just in time to get the Shadowfell adventure.

We'll try 4e I'm sure, then use whichever seems to be the better system. Right now I'm optimistic from the 4e previews we've gotten. Whichever system I decide to go with, I'll then have to decide on either a second Ptolus campaign (set after the party failed to stop the Night of Dissolution the first time around...for you Ptolus-heads out there) or the second Pathfinder adventure path.

Course, we may be ready to jump to WFRP or the classic Deadlands system for awhile.

Time will tell.
