Coolest. Feat. Ever.

Hmm, you're right. That leaves improved rapid shot allowing, essentially, a fulll attack and a move, usefull but not insane.

Well a rogue pulling it off on a surprise round with flat footed opponents is nothing to sneeze at.

That's in many ways even sillier. You can't even explain it as arrows being picked up by stray gusts of wind that redirect them at the target
But you can easily explain it as rapid Legolas-style firing if it isn't cinematically feasible to hit two or more with one pull of the string. To enforce the effect of nailing multiple guys with one pull of the string they probably should have treated it like a Cone effect and limited the distance the mooks can be apart from each other, but if you don't like rules that have the potential to make for some silly visuals if specifically set up that way then you'd have to throw out most of D&D. ;)

Scoring a crit with multiple arrows: Cool.
Nocking two arrows and firing them at two opponents within 30': Cool.
Rapid firing at three guys that surround you then taking a full move: Hella cool.
Mechanically balanced? Yep.

I really don't see a downside.

You know what rapid Legolas-style firing is? It's called Improved Rapid Shot, from the Complete Warrior. If Greater Manyshot was supposed to represent sending off a hail of arrows in all directions with more than one pull of the string, I think they would have said as much.

I don't think this feat's going to get a whole lot of use in my campaign - if you have Rapid Shot, Manyshot and Precise Shot, you'd probably pick Improved Rapid Shot over this thing. And it wouldn't break my brain.

Cheers,
Cam

I'd pick Improved Rapid Shot and Improved Precise Shot (as well as Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot and Rapid Shot, anyways) over both Manyshot and Greater Manyshot. :)

They are just funky maneuvers that only really do anything during surprise round situations.

But you can't also take a move action, like firing two arrows then acrobatically jumping onto a charging horse in the same round.

Well I don't think they really intended it to send arrows in "all directions," it just came out the way in the wording. A cone effect is obviously what they were thinking. The plus side of the non-commital text is that you can just say you're drawing the string multiple times for cooler cinematic effect.

That may be more practical, but certainly not as cool as getting three simultaneous criticals and killing an Oliphant with one pull of the string.

Yeah, and how about being able to survive 200' foot falls and walking away afterwards? What is up with that?

And what's this magic stuff I keep hearing about? I certainly can't do any of that.

The feat does seem a little overpowered, however, when applied to sneak attacks and the like. I'm glad no one in my party is an archer.

Yeah, since Greater Manyshot inherits regular Manyshot's range limitation, it's really a fairly slight improvement over Manyshot. It's certainly no Arrow Storm Technique (or whatever the Exalted charm is called).

(For those of you poor folls who don't know that reference go find the dang movie "Hawk The Slayer"!!!!)

Oh, sure, and how many folks here are old enough to remember that? And how many video stores would stock it??

Heck, was that even a 'talkie'? :)
