The curve is scary on those other two polls. I know we've had the discussion before, but really, where is the new blood? Can the hobby sustain itself?

While I hate to be a pessimist, I suspect probably not. Just as miniature gaming lost its hold to AH/SPI-style board games and military board games lost their place their place to rpgs, so too are rpgs losing out to computer games and playstations.

Just the cycle.

Oh, there will always be some who play, but the heyday of rpgs is, I believe, at its end.

Born in 1981 (it was my birthday the other day too! :)), started playing in 1991. I'm what you'd classify as new blood, I guess.

I would just say that it is EN world. In my circle of gaming friends/family there is one player under the age of 20 for every player over the age of 30. The younger crowd has a smaller intrest in places like EN World. They just want to play and not worry about the details, and other stuff that is the make focus here.

born in '60, first started playing in '80. I'd have gotten into it earlier, but I grew up in a itty bitty MT town.. no bookstores, gamestores, or even toy stores. I didn't discover D&D until I went to the big city ( ;) ) of Bozeman, when I went to college...

Born in '70, started playing in '80.

Began spending far too much money on the hobby in '90.

Loved the revision in '00.

:)

Born 66, started gaming 74, was 8. THe original printing of the original game was brought back from some minis con by a nun and a priest, and I was one of the ones in my 4th grade class who chose to be in the Nun's adventure during Friday Afternoon Freetime.
