Craft and Special materials

The following may be a silly questions, but from what I've read, I've seen no mention of the answers.

1. Does using a special material increase the craft DC to create the item?
2. Does crafting an item with a special material yourself reduce the cost increase to the item, or just the base price?
3. Is there anything else I need to know about crafting items from special materials?

The normal craft rules apply.

The special material increases the "market price" of the item which effects the crafting time. This is the norm - prices listed (unless otherwise specified) are always considered "market price".

Since most of the time items made from special material are masterwork (check out the material's entry itself) there is 2 craft DCs that must be made - one for the item itself and one form the masterwork portion (nothing specifies this rule does not apply).

Personally I would rule a single craft DC of 20 (because of the masterwork quality of the item) and then use the total cost of the item for its target market price to determine how long it takes (and how much progress is made each check).

If the item is not masterwork due to the special material then follow the normal craft DC with the total market price as the goal.

Oh and yes per the craft rules the total cost in materials is lessoned for the creator.
