Creating a better two weapon fighter

You may suggest him to replace the spring attack and/or cleave bonus ability of the class to be replaced by TWF feats.

I don't know if weapon finesse was ever mentionned in this thread. You have a higher dex than str.

Oh yeah! I forgot it gives spring attack... a totally useless ability for the class. That'll be a lot easier to get by than "let's just add more feats to the class".

I plan on taking swashbuckler, which gives weapon finesse at level 2. Handy.

Yeah, spring attack is kinda overshadowed by the dancing ability. But it opens the door to whirlwind attack which fits the concept well IMO.

Also, IMO, instead of having them treating the scimitar as a light weapon, I'd rather have a free weapon finesse feat for any medium slashing weapon (sorta like the iaijutsu master from oriental adventure), but then, it wouldn't be an as good TWF as it is now :p

The nice thing about making scimitars light is that then you do get weapon finesse for a medium slashing weapon... one of the best medium slashing weapons, actually. Not for free, but then again, swashbuckler is a pretty good intro into this class.

The only problem with trading spring attack for ITWF is that it's third level in the class... which means that you have to have at least 8 BAB at that point... two levels later than you would otherwise qualify for the feat. Kinda crappy. I'm not sure I can convince my DM to make ITWF first or second level, but I'll give it a try.

While whirlwind attack is cool... it rarely comes in handy, in my experience. If you can kill everyone around you in one hit, cleave is almost as good, and if you can't, it's better to concentrate your attacks (which will be plentiful). And the last thing this class needs is another freakin' feat to take.

Good point about trading spring attack for another feat. ITWF is already my 6th level feat, so I've got that one under control. But spring attack is just hanging out there as such a useless feat it's screaming to be replaced with something good. Maybe improved critical, maybe combat reflexes. Both seem to fit the class ok. What do you guys think? would any of you go for either of these substitutes?

If you could do that, you could never suffer an attack of opportunity again.

Reach monsters:
You would just move up to the right square, then 5' step in and fight. Things with reach 10' would never get to attack you with an At. Op.

Withdrawing from battle:
Also, you could 5' step away from someone, then move away. Again, no attack of opportunity is possible.

Maybe a very high level prestige class feature, or at the very least and epic feat with huge prerequisites.

Not really sure what you're referring to, Tatsukun. Are you sure you weren't attempting to reply to the MEA and 5' step thread?

CD Saint - if you're using scimitars, improved critical rocks! Combat reflexes is cool, but without two handed weapons, they're not as powerful. And I don't know if this is just my DMs, but my opponents rarely draw more than one attack of opportunity per round. Maybe if you're using a reach weapon...

Combat Reflexes is cool if you manage to go first, have Double Hit/Strike (MiniHB IIRC, last time I was wrong) and move up to the first opponent of the enemies to hit him with high Expertise. Most enemies would have to get around you to reach your buddies, drawing two AoO strikes at highest BAB from you, or the have to attack you while you enjoy a good AC.

Yeah, somewhere yesterday someone suggested a feat that allowed you to take a 5' step and move in the same round. I'm not going to bother finding it...
