D&D 3.x Creature Collection II 3.5 Update A-S Complete

Daywalker, I always pictured favored class as fighter, not ranger. But that's a minor grip. Dropping spirited charge is probably best.

White Wraith however SHOULDN'T have cleric, especially since most hate gods and/or don't worship them. Thus favored class: Cleric doesn't work. Now I'd suggest wizard or sorcerer as a possible replacement or barring that, rogue.

Daywalker: I made their favored class ranger do to the their description as desert scavengers. To me,it seemed that most of them would have a level or 2 in either Ranger of Barbarian (a militant class with Survival as a class skill), since they are NE, I went with Ranger. I envison most Daywalkers to be Ranger 1/Fighter 6, Rgr 1/Rog 4; etc. They can get by on Ranger skills based off what their Racial HD gives them, then just have fighter to build off of. In my games, I back-engineer 2 HD races back to 1 HD, then apply classes. Thus, in my games a player who wanted to play a Daywalker would HAVE to take a level of Ranger to resemble the Ratmen in the CC2.

The White Wraith Favored class is derived from this text: "The White Wraith Priesthood consists of many shamans who...." In my reading of Ratmen, the White Wraiths seem to have the most pointed reference to a religious structure. Combined with the lack of any Ratmen types seeming to have a clerical bent, I went with Cleric as a Favored Class. (Read just the CC2 Write-up & see if you get the same impression. What source is your extra info in?

I got mine from Warren of the Ratmen for White Wraith. Priesthood is a misnomer. They don't have cleric powers more like adepts or even Shaman. (Which I think should have been a new core class for many titanspawn.) Most priests are in reality either druids, sorcerers or adepts when it comes to Titanspawn. I site that from a couple sources but primarily I believe the SLCS, Player's Guide to Fighters and Barbarians, Player's Guide to Clerics and Druids as well as Warren of the Ratmen.

As for Daywalker, like I already said, ranger is much more minor grip and certainly feasible considering where they live and also what it they do. Rogue or Ranger is fine.

OK. This post is now caught up to the same point I'm actually at.

Which is I'm getting ready to start on Skeletal Host.

I'm not sure when I'll have my next update. I might try to do mini-updates every few days, or try mega updates as I pass milestones (like the end of a letter).

Based on NIghtfall's recommendations, I changed the Favored Class of the Ratman, White Wraith to Sorcerer from cleric.

Thanks,

Hi,

Just noticed this thread (don't normally look in this forum), and I thought I'd say, firstly, Great Work!

I'm just about to start a new SL campaign, so this could be useful.

Secondly, could I ask you to post the conversion as a file to one of the Scarred Lands yahoo groups. ScarnTalk or Scarred_Lands (second one is bigger).

Both are very quiet these days, but something like this should be stored and available.

Thanks,

Duncan

Thanks,

I know it's been a while since I updated, so here's a status report:

1. Life's been really busy & my free time isn't as great right now, so that's slowing down the process.

2. The main reason I'm doing this is to (finally) update my Master Monster Database (a MS-Access database that has info like Name, CR, Climate, Terrain & few other bits, so I can set up a queery like 'All CR 5 monsters that are found in Cold Plains' & make up my encouter charts for my games. I'm doing this so that I can easily use all my monster books, I around 20, but only use 7-8, or flip through tomes endlessly searching for monsters.

Well, the CCII conversion is really about me completing & updating all my monster resources to 3.5. CCII was the first book I took it upon myself to update myself. So, right now my priorities are:

1. Update the Denizens of Darkness 3.0 info with the Denizens of Dread 3.5 info (I thought I'd done this when the 3.5 book came out, but guess not). This is also taking longer than expected as the book is an gothic nightmare of editing & half-guessed attempts at how 3.5 monster actually WORK. Still I should be done in a day of two.

2. Update my database's Monsternomicon 3.0 with the 3.5 Monsternomicaon I picked up a few days ago. As Privateer Press is (so far) really good with their editing & rules info, this should take a day or so.

3. Finish up the CCII Conversion.

This isn't the EXACT order I'm working on, but rather what I'm putting the greatest emphasis on. So, while the Denizens of Dread Hack Job is taking up most of my time, I'm still getting fed up with it & going back to the CCII conversion. I mean how can you screw up Advancement range? A 2 HD monster shouldn't have an advancement range of 5-10 HD.

So, when I get a chance, I'll post where I'm up to now (still on S, lot of S monsters in that book). Still things should go smoothly until I get to the Templates section, as converting them is usually more of a ground up-deal.

Thanks

Yeah the S section of CC II takes up a good chunk of the book so I'm not surprised you're still there, V. And don't worry about not updating, I understand that RL stuff tends to come first anyway.

Just a quick Status Report.

I've finished up through the T's in teh actual book. I still need to transfer it to my Word Document & then paste it into the thread.

I'm staring to really chug through it, as I spend Sunday watching Football & use the commericals or really boring parts to update the monsters.

Every time I sit in front of the computer to do it, I wind up doing something else as ALL my real life work involves computers, so I have a thousand other things to do every time I sit in front of the screen.

Still, I hope to be done in just a few weeks.

Thanks,

I'm up to Vermnin Host.

And I'm going to be taking a break from the actual conversion process to get my conversion file & this thread up to date.

As for the Vermin Host, any preferences for what Monster Type it should be? It's curretnly a Shapechanger, so It's a total re-write.

I can see arguements for:

Vermin: As that's what they are filled with, but the Int score (or the Rats), seem to make that a poor choice.

Aberration: That's what they're there for, everything else.

Monstrous Humanoid: I can See it.

Magical Beast: All those wee little critters can easily be a Magical Beast,

Plus they all have the Swarm Subtype in their 'hive' form.

Nightfall, what do you think, from a Gods-Created position would be the best type to make them?

Thanks,
