Reddit may come up on google, and it is a good place to find new players.

But in terms of discussion, its posters are clearly lack those decades of experience and philosophical inclinations that make for a good discussion.

Yea, I've certainly perused reddit for answers related to D&D inquiries, and I even posted once or twice on Matt Colville's reddit page. But the only discussions I really engage in are on this forum.

I try to offer helpful responses on r/DMAcademy and one or two other curated subreddits in my spare time (aka insomnia), but when I have challenging more involved questions I either ask my gaming friends or post here on ENWorld. Generally speaking (there are exceptional posters), I would compare the D&D related subreddits to ENWorld with this sentiment: "Reddit = more eyes/voices, less thoughtfulness."

Reddit's a difference audience, for all that's worth or not.

I occaisonally trawl through r/unearthedarcana for homebrew as having feedback makes it dang useful, and over on r/hobbydrama we had some fun discussions when the whole TSR incident was going down, but its very pick and chose. Sometimes you get great stuff like people reviewing a whole bunch of homebrew classes. Othertimes you get a hot mess
