CSI Miami aka The Horatio Caine Show

I like NY. It's suitably CSIesque while at the same time going it's own way. It's grittier, more
somber. It's higher on drama, the human element of the cases while also being able to keep
the cast out of said drama. I don't think it has, or will, surpass the original but it's good.

They could up the humour a bit, though.

Maybe CSI: LA will be better since it won't have a headliner lead star. If the rumors are true.
They're doing CSI:LA?

Geez, way to not flood the market. What, one CSI for each weekday?

Well, it *has* been established since episode one that Horatio was in the Bomb Squad before joining CSI.
Hmm... I had thought that was his brother (before he went undercover). Thanks for correcting me - it'll help me feel a bit better about CSI: Miami.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if there was a revelation in a future episode that Caine was ex-Fed (Secret Service, DEA, FBI, whatever), ex-bomb squad, ex-special forces, and ex-IAB. He character is so well-rounded and godlike after all...

Yes, I am being sarcastic.

Someone on the AEG forums suggested that, if he were a Spycraft 2 character, that he should be a Sleuth10/Soldier5/Politico5, to cover all the bases. I'd suggest even adding one level of GM, just to be sure. :)

Ya, he has script approval

I much prefer CSI: Original Variety to CSI: Miami, and I think Horatio is over the top.

But.

He also strikes me as an almost perfect "paladin" character. He keeps a few secrets, but always for someone's good; he's all about law and justice; and he does it to protect people.

I think I'm going to skip Miami tonight. I usually have to catch a number of them in reruns anyway because of various must-see ball games. I really dislike how they've slicked up the show and removed a bit of its depth, heart, and soul. They really need to "off" Caine and bring what'shernamethatCarusogotcanned back.

I like CSI: Miami, but I agree wholeheartedly that it's become the Horatio Caine show. CSI:M needs to spend less time focusing on what a supercool badass Horatio is and develop the rest of the cast a little more.

Guh. I couldn't stand that character; they didn't get rid of her fast enough. Taking some of the focus off Caine is fine, but not if it means bringing her back.

And BTW, I've heard lots of people claim that "Caruso got her fired," but I've never seen anyone point to a source to back that up. According to everything I've read, she wanted off the show.
