Current State of Neverwinter Nights?

First Post
I remember all the hype and hysteria surrounding this game when it came out, i even bought it. But i was unable to find anything interesting at the time (over a year ago) so i let it go. The question is..did any of the ideas (A land Far Away for example) pan out? Are there any everquest-like persistant worlds, or anything even worth downloading?

Well, the two expansions added PrC, more tilesets, portrits, placables, and the single player campaign that is much better then the one that comes with orginal NWN, the henchmen AI/ managment is also much better with the expansions.
I HATE EQ, so I don't play on any NWN PW servers, I know there are alot of them set up. There is an ENworld NWN guild set up, check it out.
Can an admin move this to the computer fourm?

EDIT: done as I was making this post.

If you asked this question in the computer forum, I bet you would find some other NWN players.
Sorry i didnt realize there was one :o

EricNoah, i remember you from somewhere...ALFA? Are you a designer?

For me, the best thing about NWN was playing in a custom-made campaign with an excellent DM and some really good roleplayers. When my DM had to quit because of real-life circumstances, I decided to take up "real" D&D instead. So NWN was sort of a victim of its own success.

Lately I haven't had time for computer games. I like the latest expansion (Hordes of the Underdark) but I haven't finished it.

If you want online games that are more than the usual Diabloesque hack-fests, Neverwinter Connections is the place to go.

I play in a NWN persistant world, and there are plenty of them around. The one I play on is run by a friend, who now lives in Europe (I'm in Australia), so it's a good way for us to keep in touch.

But also, I run a campaign with 5 players and all of them play on that world too. As do several other ppl I regularly game with.

Our worlds has tradeskills, ie, you can be a leatherworker, and make bags, leather armour, etc, you can make metal weapons & armours, and even arrows and bows. This all adds a lot of flavour to the game, as you personalise the development of your PC.

Also lately we've been playing specific modules using NWN once a week or so - old 1st Ed modules, some new ones. These have all been played without a DM, and have been pretty good (some better than others - try U1 (Sinister secret of saltmarsh), for a very well implemented module for starting characters.

Anyway, I'm spending far too much time playing NWN atm :-)

Let me also add a link here:

There have been some excellent modules, extra tile sets, npc's, etc. produced for this game by fans, in particular the Shadowlands series. Once the release of Hordes of the Underdark becomes more widespread, you will see even better modules released using the new options available.

NWN continues to get better and better thanks to the outstanding quality and support that both the fans and bioware continue to pump into it.

Neverwinter Nights has tremendous longevity due to the amount of high-quality modules and custom content out there made by fans. You could spend months playing the high-rated modules out there, and still not see them all.

One massive NWN project I've been keeping an eye on for a while now is the City of Doors Initiative, which is devoted to bringing the Planescape setting to NWN.
